but not good for shopping hehehe crap I have asked for travel quote and I think I could stay in a very good hotel in HK for my hotel and airfare to Tokyo hehehe. But the kids wanted to see Japan :-9 and also I kinds promise them.

There goes my A99 Dec shopping wish list :( I doubt Japan pricing would be cheaper than SG :-( even their 2nd hand market in Akihabara is not that cheap also....

Japan is great for shopping, it's just super expensive especially if you don't have a ¥ income over there. Don't spend your hard earned S$ for a camera in Japan. You can still buy the A99 tax free at the Changi airport. ;-)

Why not plan Holiday at Japan with a few days transit in Hong Kong, Singapore Airlines and Cathay fly to Japan via Hong Kong:)

Awesome idea especially because we don't even know the RRP in Singapore yet. :-) Even if the body is $100, $200 or $300 cheaper in HK, it's definitely not reason enough to waste time and money going there just for that. ;-)

Agreed. So to save more money, albertri has to spend more (buy A99 + VG + HVL FM60 + CZ2470 + maybe a 300GII etc).

I remembered that Tokyo's camera (local set in Japanese) are much cheaper. If you asked for international set, the price will be higher. Not so now?

If you're talking about Sony the answer is "yes". For the Japanese models the competition is much tougher whereas only a few shops in the bigger cities stock international models. Japanese versions will have Japanese menus only and unfortunately the international versions are always PAL only but they come with a worldwide warranty.

No. :) Unfortunately you can't according to the previews I saw/read so far. Did someone say you can? It would be great.

Saw and read the latest batch of info and pictures. Starting to feel alittle more keen already. Might get 1 next year.. :bsmilie:

Yeah, Sony themselves said so at the launch announcement.

Other previews posted in this thread say it's locked. Watch the preview from Switzerland again. ;-) Well, we'll see in December when the camera ships. I haven't seem the NTSC/PAL selector in the official specs some people reported.

Hai, with HWZ testing it too.

Hands-on: Sony Alpha SLT-A99 24MP Full-frame Camera - HardwareZone.com.sg

" And yes, it’s a world cam - you can change from PAL to NTSC (and vice versa) from the menu. "

Awesome, I hope that's not just the preproduction firmware for reviewers around the world. Seems a bid odd that you need to reboot and format the card if it's properly implemented...
