A99

If im not wrong. According to the introduction A99 video. A99's PDAF green box is smaller than this? Seems to be even more centralize at the center than this.
Indeed, like the NEX-5R and NEX-6. But unless those two the A99 doesn't have any on-sensor PDAF points vertically in the center. Here you go:

Btw the on-sensor AF points will only work with 6 lenses (SAL2470Z, SAL2875, SAL50F14, SAL300F28GII, SAL70400G and SAL50050F4G) for the time being and I guess they will never work with any 3rd party lenses.

If I can afford a 24-70 and 70-200, I will go A99 n A77. With 24-70 mounted on A99, 70-200 on A77, SWEE! Then during DnD or outing, I just bring these equipments will do (with 2 high end flash of course). More than enough than anything else. Heh heh! :D

more sample photos sadly all are jpeg OOC

Bro Rashkae is correct A99 and A77 noise pattern are the same :-( but noise control of A99 is far much better, I think ISO6400 or 12800 is like 1600 and 3200 of A77

About two stops improvement?

I would say around that but this is just me based on my experience with A77. But the noise pattern is the same or similar. Hope they'll be able to release ne A77 firmware to make the ISO handle bit more better

I think it's about time for an A79 with dual PDAF system like the A99. Maybe they can improve the noise with a new sensor.

Aiyoh, if technically possible, which I strong believes so, it will come to fruition. It's a matter of time, as usual...............

Yea...as usual using such safe words means no promise..but everyone probably know its just a matter of time.

Back onto the thread.. saw the D600 noise performance and am impressed by it. As usual..Nikon is good at noise. If the A99 can do the same. Im going to jump straight in. :bsmilie:

IIRC, Sony goes for better Dynamic Range over Noise control, if I'm not wrong.

IIRC, Sony prefers to concentrate on Dynamic Range rather than concentrate on better noise control.

Don't like that lah, never meant to be sony vs nikon. Anyway, I might be wrong on my first statement. I don't own a Nikon before.

How to compare? Don't start.

Sony offers a better dynamic range than Nikon?

Usually on the same sensor, yeah, sony will have a bit better dynamic range.

Sony focuses more on color separation for nice prints. Nikon focuses more on on-screen noise.

the processor plays a part as well

Just curious. Is the sensor rating done by DXOMark any accurate or reputable? ?
Because...from what i see even the good ISO performance like Nex5N only score like 1079 for high ISO. And the A900 has 1431.

Back to it. The new Nikon FF D600 (which uses A99 sensor) has a really impressive results. So logically should the result of A99 be very close? Are we expecting the A99 high ISO's rating to be somewhere around the D600 of 2980 (as stated on their website)? If that is so..its really a huge jump.

Did DXO already rate the D600?

Yup. Rated since early last night I think. 3rd best overall score, behind the Nikon D800E and Nikon D800.
