Anyone know if this will fit the A6000 hotshoe?

OK, i send Sony an email regarding the PDAF. My question was, how do you enable PDAF with a 1670z lens. This option was removed from A6000 but it was present in NEX6, so was it a NEX6 only features and by default A6000 will have PDAF on?

Well, Sony tech just called me. He was able to select PDAF ON and OFF inside the camera menu. Go to Camera Setting, under sub MENU 1, there will be a PDAF selection ON and OFF. He tried on his A6000 with 1670z lens and this option was available. I told him i can't see this options at all.

So later after work i am bring my camera down to wisma for a check.

True they an save money on plastic caps.. But how about the manual? Strap? Etc etc, there a list if items that can be saved on consumers and multiply by vol it looks significant!!
Don't worry, over time they will leave out more and more. ;)

I'm just curious...why would you want to disable PDAF?
Maybe your lens firmware is not the latest so the camera can't detect it?
I didn't even know the NEX6 had this feature and now with my a6k..i also never knew haha

AFAIK, once PDAF is selected, you will have small little crosses on your display ( not small green boxes ) for PDAF to work. Well, i am not getting this. The one shown in DPreview have it though.

Ah, yes, the greed boxes are the CDAF squares..PDAF is usually smaller green squares that will move all over the screen on the A6k
Usually it's a camera firmware issue that doesn't support the lens but since the A6k is the newest of them all and all the online tests showed the 1670 does with with the a6k PDAF, maybe your camera is not running the latest firmware for some reason..It shouldn't be the case..if it really is..Sony has some explaining to do...

So for taking photos on the display, do u see the 179 crosses ( not to be confuse with the small little green box )?

Please update what is your latest feeling. I don't see the PDAF selection on mine.
But I noticed that the small boxes (PDAF) will only appear in AF-C, for AF-S, only the bigger boxes appears

My version has 1.00 for Body and 01 for Lens.

Many thanks.

Finally had some time to play with it...Hmm..I don see the crosses as well...neither do I get to select the Pdaf in the camera menu..I'm on the kit lens though...noob question..how do I see my lens firmware version...and another even noob question..just to confirm....I suppose..the fame, 11 frame per second shooting...comes under the continuous shooting mode..where u can select high to low?

YES! Like what DPreview showed on the A6000. It should cover 92% of the screen.

I believe you are talking about this particular image posted on DPReview's 1st impression review.
$afpoints.jpg
A few things:
1) the unit DPReview had was a pre-production unit.
2) The picture looks like marketing material (from Sony) to highlight the increased number and area of coverage for PDAF...and not a picture taken by the team just for the review.
3) For all intent and purposes, my A6000 paired with 1670Z do not have the crosses as well.
4) I believe that the indication for active hybrid/PDAF has evolved to tiny green squares which is pretty obvious in AF-C, wide focus area setting.... and in some situation AF-A.
5) so far from all the you-tube reviews on the AF function of the A6000, I do not see the crosses as well..

So.... there is nothing wrong with your A6000 (version 1.0) or 1670Z (version 0.1)

My guess is, how A6000 deal with PDAF is diff from Nex 6. That's why i drop them an email. But the tech called me and said PDAF can be enable/disable inside the menu which i didnt have. So wondering was he smoking? But he ask me to bring down for a check.

Anyway, my hotshoe came, so i am going down to collect anyway so can just ask them. lol.

I don't have the "settings" mentioned by the tech too. And can't find the multi grey crosses area also. PDAF seems to appear in AF-C mode only.

Is it? I haven't seen it once in AF-A. Later pls update us.
Btw can check whether the A6k glass screen protector is in stores?
Also feel like bringing the brown case and ask Sony to exchange for black one. ;)

Where you got your casing go down to that sony to change. Sony wisma won't entertain swapping of color casing. :D
