I guess the major points would be, if you need video, go for a33 else an a550 would suffice (a560/a580 if you can wait).

My take is that whenever any company launches new models of whatever, the previous models gets a drastic drop in price, ...does that means it's no good ? ...certainly NOT !
The fact that it's now the same price as the lower end A390 should cue you to it's value for money.
