Agreed ! ...I was impressed with the A550 features list and its definately slightly higher spec than the A500, but that all black body of the A500 looks so different from the A550's Gray/black body.
(Sorry, I'm a sucker for aesthetic) Fired a few test shots with the 50mm F1.8 SAM last nite and I was like 'Wow' ! :bsmilie:
I definately see great usage of the HDR feature and the cute 'smile' shutter put a smile on my wife's face !
The 'Live-View' shooting mode is just about perfect ! ...Funny, my canikon buddies insists that OVF is the only professional way to shoot but back when I started photography in the 1980ties, the experts and professionals shoot with something similar to 'live-View' (120mm, 4x5 and large formats), beginners and hobbyist were limited to OVF shooting, AF cameras (read as early Minoltas) were viewed as novelties, things have certainly gone one big circle.

Bro, I believe shadowofflight bro has sold his A550.
A500/550 is indeed a good camera, able to match competitors in terms of ISO and picture quality. Speed and LV is the one that kills them of for the same class of cameras.

my concern is the size of the hood haha... i think 70-300G cover very good range and shortlisting it to be my telephoto lens (have none atm) but the hood make the lens so long/bulky
I see ur concern. For me, I do without the hood, I didn't even bring it out as I'm sure with it mounted on, it's going to be like magnet attracting unwanted attention.
I'm sure u have a filter or something that can help cope with flare issues if you are really very concern of.
I only had a Hoya Pro 1D clear filter on it, and I do not encounter flare issues with this lens. Go to SSC and try it out!

Sagiluck so your walk around lens is a 28-75mm? how do you feel about the focal length of that on a cropped body? or you use the wide angle lens alot? asking because im wanting to get a 24-70 sigma myself.

Yes it's fully compatible just that it does not come with a swivel head which allows you to turn the flash head left-right.

has anyone used a 3rd party flash that works as good as HVL-F58AM on your Alpha?

The F58AM is in a class of it's own. You can try looking for a used F56AM or Minolta 5600 instead, they are pretty cheap I would say.

I believe Sony retail list is S$1,099 (S$1,199 w/kit lens) presently.
Shop and ask around, the street price could be lower by as much as S$100.
