A300 is out!!!

That would explain the no picture degradation statement.

No doubt it would be useful for manual focusing especially with prime lens.
But seriously, Sony has some serious marketing skills, a simple crop becomes
"Smart Teleconverter 2X Zoom with 200mm telephoto effect on 18-70mm zoom lens" :bsmilie:
That is really misleading. A 12MP camera will still be capable of a 12MP image file with a teleconverter, regardless of it being 1.4X, 2X or 3X.

I think this function works like the Nikon D2x. In the D2x it helps users to confirm the subject is focused properly.

Really useful for macrophotography or manual focus work, if this is the same intended function. Saw the usefulness when a fren uses it on his D2x.

If true, makes my life so much difficult to choose between this and the A700.

anyone have any idea on when the a300 will be out? should i not get the a200 and wait for the a300 to arrive in sg?

If you don't need live view, get the A200.

wah good stuff! You guys more good in sourcing information! hahaha

A350 is a 14.2megapixs!!!

If you don't need live view, get the A200.

Apart from the live view, any other difference? according to the US sony website, its cost USD$799, about SGD$1130. seems like quite worth to wait for it.

*Headache*

Unless you are beginner, dont waste time with the a200 or a350. Go for a700 if u prefer alpha system. :)
First I dont think live view is that necc for DSLR. Second i dont beleive 2x digital zoom will not compromise image quality. Even a genunie optical 2x teleconverter lens which cost almost $1000 cant claimed to have no degradation in picture quality. :)

I asked today at Cathay... likely next month... i.e. Mar...

whua like that, got chance it will launch during IT show?
A200 & A300 quite close the price, so A300 more worth it?
why SONY come out with 2 product that priced so closely?

Had look at Sony's HK website last night and they only listed the A200, A350 and A700 there. So was also wondering if Sony is not bringing in the A300 for this region, or it's just isn't launched yet.

i think A300 will only be released after A350 so as not to affect the sales of A200.

A200 is for those who want the cheapest DSLR and dun mind dun have a Live View.
A350 is for those who want a DSLR with a higher MP and want to have a Live View.
A300 is for those who want a DSLR and want to have a Live View.

Each of them is catered for different type of consumers and this way of marketing is very similar to what Sony has been doing for their compact digicams.

The above is based on what i had read on the Net over the past 2 weeks. :)

Yup. They want to make sure that all choices of "maybe this or that, dunno what i want, why can't i have a cam that does this or this" are answered.

A350 from HK should be ok if the warranty issues are converted to singapore . I am ready to take this Body anytime !

Needed this badly to try out the LV for Macro shooting with its CCD !:bsmilie:

any detailed specs??

how is it compare to A200?? or maybe Nikon D80

Quite a few detailed specs already released. What are you looking for specifically? It should easily be in the same class as the D80/D90 but it also has live view, built-in antishake and DRO, etc.

Same class as D80? I dun think so leh bro... it's an A200 with liveview... entry level same class as D40 I should think... D80 is one class higher...

Well, the D40 is a toy. I would consider it lower than the A100, though they share the same sensor. Once you add in the fact that the A300 has an AF motor, DRO, anti-shake, a bigger screen, liveview and an improved sensor, then it's way above D40/D60 class and competes with the D80 already.

But in terms of the important stuff like useability, more advanced feature set, it's a whole class or maybe half a class behind the D80... so I would consider the A300 to be in between the entry and the amateur range... A700 would compare with the D80... while the D300 is in another class with the A700 trailing slightly behind perhaps... again the A700 is between classes... I sense that SONY is trying not to compete head on but create their own product lines... that perhaps make more sense to the consumer...

comparing A700 with D80? c'mon you must be joking. D300 only main advantage over A700 is the liveview and faster FPS...both of which not really critical to majority
