Me too.

Though initial impressions of the A230, 330 and 380 with the 18-55mm lens seem to make it a reaaaaaaaaaally nice walkaround/backup body.

This makes me want to convert my A200 to full-time IR and just get one of these new ones as a walkabout. And with the user-friendly UI it's a very very good tool to teach newbie photogs too.

Haha... Is not aiming for you or existing a200/a300/a350 users lah. So don't bother. You should check out the new lenses. The 30mm Macro would be good choice for those who wants a dedicated macro lens.

Not sure. But, in crop factor, it would be about 45mm.

Curious to see its detail, hopefully Sony would release more info about these lenses.

Exactly, I am amazed by the fact that people can't recognize Sony's strategy in now creating a clear difference between new/low end users on 'limited' buget and demanding/high end users that are willing to fork out the money no matter ho much it is as long as it meets their requirements.

I would say, be glad that Sony is making such a move as it will make the hobby more affordable for many of us. Previously people nagged and moaned about Sony pricing, now that alternatives are available, it is still not good enough? Well, I guess you can't get all the top notch stuff against bargain prices, can ya?

According to Sony's press release the gear will be available in July, pre-ordering starts as per today in selected Sony stores.

And the new flash can be used as a wireless trigger, so that baby is coming on my A900.

Alright, I found the info in the meantime. Pardon me the question as I am by far a flash guru, does this mean that the new flash can trigger 'one of the same' as well?

Ie. if you were to buy two of these new babies, mount one on the camera, can you trigger the other one? Really curious about this ..

I do not believe this flash supports wireless functionality other than acting as a trigger.

Officially, the cameras are about 50 USD CHEAPER than the previous batch.

Indeed, it's not like ONLY Sony is having price increases .. in fact other brands were very early this year in going up. In Malaysia Sony prices are in fact still not changed, contrary to in Singapore.
