Let me share some of my experience. I once posted a 3-month old a350 dual lens kit for a friend at BnS. It took a day and some heavy bargaining before I could let go at 37% lower than it's purchase price. While my 450D took only an hour to sell at 20% below it's purchase price. CANIKON resale prices are really higher based on the figures I see at the BnS.

But not so if you are comparing good (not G or high-end) Minolta lenses and Canon/Nikon mid-range lenses....

Yes, they are street prices. You can't compare a D5000 or a 500d to a200. They are of different league. A closer comparison would be a200 to D60(S$860) or 1000D(S$899)

Keep comparing with C&N again and there's no end in this forum. Please restrict to only discussion for new Alpha launches on this thread.

thank you.

actually i don't really see much of a problem when shooting at high ISO.

i've owned the A200 (lowest end of the lineup) and the noise is still manageable.

Manageable may not be acceptable to everyone. New entry level cameras from C and N opens up new opportunities for capturing usable snapshots at High ISO that are cleaner or were either not possible before.

I can see that you're using a700. Best low-light performer in Sony camp is sony a700. This camera uses the same (or at least very simmilar) sony cmos sensor as Nikon d90, so noise levels will very simmilar of these two cameras (when shooting raw).

Compare, compare compare. Well, those can talk in kopitiam. Then see any C and N user got to say about their own product. If not, don't compare too much. IF want to compare, go and change to Leica or Mamiya or Leaf and have fun with all those medium format. Happy with what we have. Let sony take time to shape it's business. It is about technologies. So relax and shoot with what we have. Too much complaint and compare, not good. (Seriously if we are still at film age, i guess there wont be this complaint and compare but more on sharing).

It's a pity when people will result selling their equipments because of this and that, that is better and this is not....never ending...I wonder where the problem lies..is kit lens not good enough or the wannabe photog is not ready to handle an equipment like a dslr.
There are people who are still using A100 and kit lens and the shot they make is much better than newer @ +those G&Cz. They talk more about equipment...that's all but never thot whether their photography is better. Equipment is just for pride of being having the $ to buy but I think the photog will be judge on the output of the pics he make.
I've got friends whose using C&N equipment and doesn't matter to us as we look on our pictures more :)
btw, I'm both A100 & A700 shooter and I love them both and my kit lens is one of my favorite lens.

Keep shooting folks and make pride on your shots than your equipment.;)

Sorry bro, Sony a700 is not the same sensor as Nikon d90.

So, whose going to buy any of these new SONY DSLR??
They will surely get a tough competition with the D5000 (S$1185) and 500D (S$1369) which comes with movie mode. I know that video function is awkward to use in DSLR but it's good function to have and it adds value to the cam. Moreover CANICON has a higher resale value.

Bro, how about this.
Buy a digital camera which have video (Cost about $300).
Buy a 2nd hand A200 (cost $500-$700) with kit lens.
Total value will be around $800-$1100.
Save money and ofcox, you got two things.

Value to the cam, for professional photographer, let me repeat, PHOTOGRAPHERS (not videographers) don't require video stuffs inside our camera. Have you see D3, or A900 or 1D mark 3 having video functions? No. Only newbies to DSLR will want it. Ofcox for business purpose, they will invent it, but they invent it in "DSLR style compact camera" not in DSLR.

So pls bro, try not to confuse people here. Value, anytime can drop. But skills will always be with you if you practice taking more pictures than thinking about moving pictures than still pictures. If not, downgrade to digital compact. They have everything you want. :)

Actually it is. Sony supplies the same sensor for A700, D300 and D90.

Difference is that the D90 uses a different AA filter and microlens array.

I would expect a f3.5-4.5 lens for that short range. :(

I would expected 50 F1.8, 85 F1.8,

I need go portrait lenses at a lower price.

and a good wide angle like 16-35 F3.5/4:)

if mounted on
hmm then the AF will be done by the bodymotor or the SAM on the lens?
:)

I suppose SAM should work like lenses with SSM, just that it's not supersonic...

There's a new 50mm f/1.8. It's cheap.

16-35? On APS-C? Nope. They already have the 11-18mm as well.

only thing is if it can be priced like Canon one at abt $120 only for a brand new.

the new kit lens seems to have less of the CA issue, and it looks sharper. Good news. :sweatsm:
