hahahah.... Best Cam.. is it the one near Alan Photo? i went in and asked the uncle if he have stock for D80... he didnt know what was D80... than i was like... errrrrrrrr........ than i walked away... AHAHHA

I hope all of the critics have something to substantiate what actually happened else it would be libel.

Even so, why does it seem that so many have something against BestCam, libel or not?

Come and sue all of us, Mr. Ah Beng (or Ms. Ah Lian?)!

So who's gonna post a pic of the famous ah lian? :bsmilie:

Why is all their first name "Ah"? When people see them they scream"AHhh!"

I was at Best Denki, Taka looking for a AV cable. In the past I remember the sales people were super attentive and helpful in my Plasma TVs purchase and that was why i went to BD for the cable. First I asked one guy, and when he heard that I was looking for only a cable he pointed his finger to a direction and said "you go look there".... okie, so i went hunting .... saw the cables .... not sure which type but finally saw one ... took it and went to a sales staff nearby, which is the Plasma TV section .... asked him whether this is the right cable for my Epson P2000 ... he said he didnt know ... so walk to the next sales person a few metres away .... and asking him whether i can try the cable on the plasma .... he pointed his finger and asked me to go to the counter and asked the people there if i wanted to try ..... and i asked which counter .... haha, he said "there .....".... there where?...
SO i went to the computer section and a few sales ppl were chatting among themselves, and finally got one... he asked me to go to the tv section to try.... so far no one bother to bring me there (maybe the cable is too low price?)
Ha, finally got a sales guy and , okie, he helped me to set up the cable and my epson, and he turned on ... and it looked ok.... but before I could try on my own, he unplugged everything and said ..." ok.... ".. so bopian, i got the message, the item is too cheap for anyone to bother.... and so i went to pay for the cable $14.90.
I forgot to tell them that I was on a lookout for a 40' LCD tv soon ...:bsmilie:
The following day i saw some of these cables were selling at negibourhood stall at about $6-50!

We should always bring the matter to CASE if we are ever short-changed by these shops.

The more complaints there are in their track record, the less chance they have in court in the event these ah-beng shops sue ppl for libel.

How would posting one's experiences constitute as libel?

Side track a bit.

You want LCD TV, If LG is ok, go Gain City. Super Cheap.
You want better warranty, go Harvey Norman. Their warranty is the best and
YOU CAN BARGAIN PRICES SOME MORE.
If you not heng get the correct staff, try again another day or another branch.
Sure can haggle price one.

I agree...avoid at all costs. I ask old man about dry box, then he ask girl. Price he quoted me was $140...wow wow wee how can. Simple plastic dry box that BIG is selling for $19.99. He then got nerve to ask me what is the best price i can offer. Not to mention I walk in and staff of 4 people only playing a handheld game. bad customer service and unbelieveable price quotes. I tink it is time we print out a copy of the threads and give it to them.

PLease lah, T50 year end sale RETAIL PRICE only like hundered dollars different loor..

The punks who sell you these rotten over-priced goods in SLS and FC are those who also surf this forum I reckon.

Dear, our dear Prime Minister's advisors also visit Clubsnap loor.
We are mentioned in the National Day Rally speech anyway.
:)

I bet that scout lives in the Kopitiam section 24/7.

Remember a few years ago when CASE and STB do up the tourist traps listing... maybe they should include them into the list.

Btw, I was in this camera shop (been around for abt 15 yrs in Funan) not too long ago with this UK guy and the boss tried to sell a 400D kit for $1600.
I brought this guy to CP and guess what, this sales guy wanted to sell the 400D to this ang moh for $1580. (Apparently this ang moh did his homework in CS before and is very upset abt salesmen trapping tourists and apparently left him a bad image of us Singaporeans).

I managed to bring down the price to a decent local price for him...
Kinda disappointed to know that bad salespeople are giving this country and its folks a bad name.

the cost price for a 400D kit is @ $1350, therefore even at a price of $1600, it is still infact under the RRP set by Canon

i see no reason why your UK friend has to be upset, does he expect every shop to just earn a meagre sub $50 profit? theres always another shop that sells their stuffs cheaper "yi shan zhong you yi shan gao" which is why when my foreign friends visits Singapore, my advice for them was to get whichever product they're comfortable with and at an agreeable price, don't care about whether someone else has it going for cheaper or not, as its ultimately pointless.

Customer-service wise, John 3:16
Samuel is a really nice chap.

Hey...i got actually the same experience just years back...I ask for Vaccuum cleaner bag...they heard Vaccuum cleaner..become very very attentive...when I said I need the bag...just point finger say there...went there cant find, asked another person, again same thing, said there in another direction, on and on and i cant find it....so I walked away...that day...I was looking for 42" plasma too....but just wanna get the bag first cause it's a very old model machine and they are supposedly BIG and higher chance of finding it..
