Okie got it... will be careful of the shop:o

It's okay. Take it easy. Personally I think it's good philosophy to avoid saying the elsewhere-even-cheaper statement when talking to a shop owner. They don't like it, and they're right too when they say that you should indeed buy from the other shop then.

Thanks for the warning. I'll keep my eyes peeled for this shop...and then avoid it! :bsmilie:

I do not think that there is anything wrong with telling the shop owner the other shop's competitibve pricing.

If we do this often enough, this will give them pressure to lower their margins.

chio ? bak bak with baby face but give u those look : "dun mess with me , fXXk off " look

Just one question...........that ah lian chio or not? :bsmilie:

i mean ba ba, not bak bak

well, bestcam is not entirely bad. if you get the right person in the shop the service is actually very good. my friend and i actually have bought compacts from bestcam before, and i returned a year later to buy my ixus and brought a friend along for the ixus as well. the price given to me was unbeatable by AP, CP, most of the camera shops i asked in funan/simlim. and the service rendered was good.

look for joe when you're at the shop. i got my compacts from him. he's probably the only saving grace of the shop. when he's not there, i won't even step in. can't be bothered by the rest of the ahlians+bengs. they always quote me the RRP from canon's website and say they can only sell at that price blablabla then give me the 'look' when i walk out without buying anything. they're preetty rude. esp the new staff.

We the customer has the $$. They need our business to get some of the $$ in terms of profit. Who is in control? Us. Just need to do homework and buy from the right places. They want to be funny, rude etc, up to them.. they lose our business. Competition is keen nowadays.

Such shops have a low volume, high ripoff profits business model ....

Don't bite.

Thanks for the warning

agree with u bro , i felt so insulted when the chao ah lian sounds sumtin like ' just fxxk off to other shops if it is cheaper over there.' i should have asked for her boss or gave her a good scolding.;( to all the bros.. just be prepare to subject to such behaviour when stepping into this BestCam located #05-19.

My ang mo colleague went to buy a400D and he were served very well, even got a free 1gb CF card. My colleauge was so happy he's going back to buy a lens for the body before he leave Singapore. How well you are treated depends on the colour of your skin.

Nowadays i surf CS with a pinch of salt. Seemed like this forum is infested with ppl from certain photo shops. Names of which ppl are constantly promoting to newbies.

Previously when i posted a shop selling D80 kit package at less than $1900 nett, i get alot of PM asking where the shop is. When i replied to all of them, none replied "Thank u" .. More like info digging. Hmm
Oh well, most sporeans r nt realli known to be courteous mah... :bsmilie:

Anyway from what I seen in CS, it seem tat quite a few shops in SLS, funan and peninsula dun reali like selling to locals? They like to quote a high price, den when u tell them u dun wan, they start scolding ppl liao....dunoe hw they can survive leh.... :dunno: .... I experienced this when I go to this shop opp CP last yr to buy slica gel.....but the shop no longer there liao... :bsmilie:

maybe to save the trouble of getting scolded, try go those recommended shops ba....

Hello, I'm new to CS. Sometimes, I think it's the service that counts, even though the price is a bit higher. You will leave the shop happier. :)

Most of the time I am willing to pay a couple of dollars more if I know that a shop provides good service during and after sales. Thats why in Funan I tends to go to only one shop, moreover I have been there for over ten years and knows the sales persons. I guess for most place it helps to know the sales people well, you'll get a better service and price.

This is also the place where I recommend my friends who doesn't have any knowledge in photography and just wants a PnS camera to go, I usually tell my friends that it would probably cost them alittle more compared to the cheapest shops around, but it's good to know that most of my friends I sent to the shop finally do get their camera there, sometimes after visiting them then others. Only complaint I get is that they need to take a queue number to talk to the two sale guys there.:bsmilie:

For AP in SLS I usually only recommend to friends that have some photography experience, and my advise to them is to know what they want before hand and also check out the general pricing around before they go. I find that if the sales guys thinks that you know what you're talking about, they tends to give a better price. If you act like a carrot head then hehehe......

generally i go AP, CP, MS color or john to get my stuffs only. Other shops no no for me. :)

Thanks. Normally, I only go to 1 shop when I go to Funan because of the friendly service, seldom go to other places to shop for camera stuff. CP is also another place I go for these stuff. :)

Anyone can recommend me where to shop for a dry cabinet? In terms of price, dun really need service for this type of purchase. Thanks.

i went to BIG at harbourfront. $99 for the 40L digicab which is quite std throughout the island. grab, pay and leave. no need to smalltalk, subject yourself to potential abuse or even communicate. BESTEST.
