Hi all,
i got a total different experience from you all!
Few months ago, i went to BestCam and purchase my Lowepro Stealth Reporter bag. I was quoted quite high by John3:16, hence i went to BestCam. Initially they quote me a few dollars more than John and i told them i would decide first. Then they tried to retain me and asked if other place is cheaper. I told them about it and they quote me much lower than John. Well, i'm satisfied and bought from them. Service is still ok lor.
Then at Bally photo. I wanted to buy the BG-E3. John quote me $169. And i went to check out with Bally. The guy, a fat guy quote me lower by $2! And he even help me fix the BG-E3 onto my 350D! He gave me a name card and asked me to call his shop if i want to know the prices of the accessories.
Hmm... how come my case so different from all of you? :dunno:

Well, I have bought 2 compact cameras from bestcam since end 2004. The 2 times they gave me very good rates and service (compared to the more established retailers). Recently I went back looking for CF card and realised that they had a total change in staff who didn't seem as service oriented as the previous set of staff. Guess that's why the experience is different and why I didn't buy from them on the most recent visit.

Hmmm Bestcam..
The very 1st time i just popped by the ah beng tried to sell me a memory card for $50 more than everywhere else. I was like "WTF", then the boss came over and tried to sweet talk me "I can see that you're a photographer. I'll give you a special price." before giving me a price equivilant to other shops. I didn't get anything from them.
Then the last time I was there, I got conned by them. They sold me what they said was an original OEM canon remote control. I took it and rushed off, only to find out later that the remote was just a 3rd party. Worse off, it didn't contain the functions that I needed. Had to call back make noise then they told me to bring it back.
End up I was very unhappy, asked the boss how can do such things. The boss scolded me: said no one else had a problem with the remote, I was the odd one out. That , nevermind that I am just creating trouble for him, he just agreed to refund me the $$ without questions. That, he can just choose to not return me any $$ and leave me to as it is. Told me to shut the hell up and get out.
IIRC the boss's name is called Benedict.

I went there a few ago to ask whether do they sell film SLR cam because I need it for school assignments. They gave me the look that I was still living in the film ages... They told me that "THEIR" shop, dont sell film anymore because film is not popular anymore, in a sacrastic way...
I think it was that ah lian you mentioned that told be that...:angry:
I has the same experience but was in AP in Sim Lim, I was looking for a EOS 300v and was walking around and saw one unit in AP, then I asked the guy how much is it, he replied "Nowadays nobody wants Film SLR already", I then gave him my sweetest smile and said "Yeah I know but here I am standing in front of you asking you about the price......so.......?" the funny thing is he did not even attempt to sell me the unit that he has on the shelf.......until now still don;t understand his mentality, since nobody is buying now, then wasn't me a godsent to clear the last piece for him???

I heard this shop used to be better, due to the better service-oriented ex-staffs. but i can safely said their customer service now are absolutely poor.. I dun think they even know what is basic customer service.

Wah..so jialat ah?! The boss can even scold the customer when his shop is at fault.:nono: This shop is definitely off-limit to me liao.. I said this shop can surely make it to the list of 10 most poor-service camera shop in Singapore..:thumbsd: :thumbsd:

Hmm... I think got to go survey around the shops b4 jumping to conculsion that all the shops sucks except AP, CP and MS colour.
It all depends on the sales person that attend to u.
I dun mind bad service if the price is cheapest.
But bad service + inflated price = :thumbsd: wtf u r still doing there ?
Nowadays i surf CS with a pinch of salt. Seemed like this forum is infested with ppl from certain photo shops. Names of which ppl are constantly promoting to newbies. :think:
Previously when i posted a shop selling D80 kit package at less than $1900 nett, i get alot of PM asking where the shop is. When i replied to all of them, none replied "Thank u" .. More like info digging. Hmm
