We finally move to Tai-O, always wanted to visit this quaint fishing town on Lantau. This is the pier nearest the bus terminal. Tai-O has always been touted in guide books to be the Venice of Hong Kong. They are accurate in that it is slightly touristy, with an entire shopping alley for tourists, but it is more like Pulau Ubin, and my parents were actually quite pleased at this part of the program (amazing! :bsmilie:).. They said it reminded them of their childhood days in Singapore when it was less developed. :)

actually haven't been much excited by the thread apart from a few at the start. and i'm hardly ever moved by ir (just me, nothing against ir) apart from archlover's shot of people in ir.

but well, the above, is my fav of this thread till now. excellent details at the bottom, truely worthy of processing in b/w. the vignette/density above is fine too, although personally thinks that without color, the gradient can be more gradual, and the picture can allow more "breathing space" above the horizon without much decrease in the impact of the dark sky above.

yeah, personally i only liked the star ferry pier shots so far. nothing else very interesting in particular - maybe the 16:9 with the machinery in the foreground around the central pier area. the rest are sort of record shots, there are some with stronger compositions, but very blah to me, which is why i was wondering if i should be more selective.

this particular one i wanted to dump because i couldn't quite remove the slight haloing around the boats in the distance (to the left) - look at their tips. this is hdr from single raw with gnd used during the shot.. i think some day i have to make sure that the gnd is positioned properly - i always end up with weird looking gradients in the sky because of improper technical placement.

Somehow I feel like I've wasted this shot. This old couple, the old man was pushing his wife around the streets for quite some time, very patiently. The dedication is amazing, and I think he realised that I was interested in photographing him.. So when I raised the camera while he was looking away, he suddenly turned back, and gave me this smile, which made my day. Unfortunately, I think this picture is a lot less than it could have been.
