慕田峪is indeed nicer than八达岭which is much more crowded.
next time, if you have the luxury of time, try trek from 金山岭to司马台, that is another stretch of great wall which is very photogenic.

Yes, I went there on a Sat. It was amazing to see so many people crowding in the park doing all sorts of activities like singing, dancing, practicing taiji, etc. and they were all very enthusiastic

Hey Thanks! Those are just aeroplanes. Not so sure why they had long tails of steam though... might be due to condensation
