Hi guys, sorry it took a while before I replied. I think as journalistic photographers, its much more challenging for us to shoot bridals or pre-wedding pics.
Basically its just the couple and you (and an assistant). I personally feel that the challenge then is to break down as much barriers between myself and the couple. You really need to get to know them better quickly and bring your friendship to a deeper level. This usually translates to pics that appear more "natural" and "real".
On a wedding day, its slightly easier. The couple is in their elements. They have their friends, families and relatives to put them at ease. I am just there to interpret and shoot the wedding, concentrating on moments which i feel are significant to them and myself. I find it much easier.
I think personally, the challenge is to create shots that are meaningful. Shots which tells us more abt people and their traits, or a place and its history, or an object and its culture. In addition, decisive moments are nice to have cause there is something really eternal and romantic about freezing a moment and knowing that can never be repeated or replicated.
In the meantime, keep shooting and have fun learning and exploring =) Well at least thats what I am doing...
Cheers
