EUR 1,249 ~= SGD2,426.15

If that's so, you might as well get the 16-35L... do also check out both their MTF chart.

I seriously doubt it'll be that expensive (well I hope not... :( ).. cuz both lenses are in a total different league.. Guess gotta wait for the official announcement of the price tag..

SRP in US for 17-40mm L f/4 is USD 1,200

SRP in US for 16-35mm L f/2,8 is USD 2,400 (B&H Price $1,399.95)

Quality wise:

the new 17-40L's MTF:

at 17mm & 40mm

and 16-35L's MTF:

How to read MTF Chart

One interesting thing, did anyone notice that the diagonal angle of view of both lenses??

16-35L is 108°10’-63°
17-40L is 74°-29°

and interesting fact also 24-70L is 74°-29°!

17-40 L with the 1.6x crop factor is essentially a 27.2-64mm in the 35mm world... looks like its Canon's answer to the DX Nikkor 12-24mm F/4G lens

Hmmm, the MTF for the 40mm end doesn't look good. But MTFs are just MTFs...
