lol
i cant believe this thread is still going on:bsmilie:

For all you know, the god-forsaken Canon is gonna let this god-forsaken 5D slide into history books as the longest in-production DSLR, and we'll still be posting to this god-forsaken thread WELL INTO 2009 AND BEYOND. Sad, truly sad :sweatsm:

There has to be a silver lining somewhere and some good must come out of this wait.
1. money is still in the wallet
2. develop better patience
3. Canon sets DSLR record
4. longest thread for a non-existent camera
.....

Looking forward to a full frame 40D with 16 Megapixels and dust cleaner sensor! Oh , and 1 x Digic III processor.

Maybe they should just call it 40DN-FF. ;p

Believe in yourself, you must. Strong is the force of the darkside... Hope will persist with those who have faith till they die (or until they switch to the darkside, which ever come first).

I suspect Canon 5D II is ready, but is now scratching their head with the inferior 5D II specs (14MP, 9pt AF, blah blah...) after Nikon D700... and scrambling to change their pricing & marketing brochure to convince consumer why 5D II is a superior product. My hope of a digital version of EOS 3 is not likely to happen soon, it seems.

Luckily my lens still works on my EOS 3.

Liveview for the new 5DMkII? You bet. Can't leave it out when even the entry 450D has it. Dual Digic III? Wait nong nong. You want dual digic III now or in the future, buy the 1 series.

Just a suggestion mah. ;p

Yeah, I have a hunch that even after the 5D mk II is out, the specs will still be lower than Nikon D700.
Guess Canon have to compete in terms of price point and Image Quality.

Someone on dpreview or fredmiranda joked that Canon already prepared to launch 5DII but were caught unawares by Nikon's surprise announcement, so they had to delay the release while scratching their heads to come up with some new marketing spiel to make the 5DII appear more attractive than the D700, although it is lower-speced. (or something like that, can't recall the exact words).

I have already told you guys that the 5D replacement will not able to compete in terms of specs. The only way is to drop the price to $3,000. That may induces people to buy instead of the D700. Not everyone will go for spec, some of us go for the lowest price. A FF is a FF. If you do not need certain features, why not go for the cheaper one, right?

 agree with you.

IMHO, those who are going to get 5D II are either beginners or canon users. As for beginner, price comes in first priority. As for canon user, depend on whether he/she want to sell all his canon equipments and jump ship to Nikon. Both D700 and 5D II will have equal market share as long as canon doesn't over price the 5D II.

i don't need D700 specs. actually, i could do with the current 5D and weather sealing.

a low priced, weather sealed FF body would be the best.

Exactly. My 5D will still remain 'as good as it gets' and I will not be tempted to upgrade. :)

So as a current 5D owner, I say they should keep delaying :p

But the thing is, 5D is not weather sealed.

don't forget that canon has excelled in the compact cameras areas. I won't be surprised if canon are going to load in all those novelties to make a difference. some features that I expect to be standard in slr in future
- in camera anti-shake ( should be less than lens IS in effectiveness)
- face/smile detection
- in-frame exposure control

But where it counts, at minimum a 5dII with these would impress me:
- autofocus from 40D
- sensor cleaning from 40D
- same picture quality on additional stop.

I don't need more megapixels or weathersealing.

5D mk2 will out this november ... so some work at canon told me and the price will more higher than 1D mk3 ... the price will be around 7k...+++++

Wow, at this price of $7K it will be more expensive than the D3 so its specs must be much higher than the D3's specs! Do you believe that? I don't!
