If getting overseas, of cos the kit one is more worth it due to the price as compared to local pricing. I'd do the same if i'm overseas.
I have a feeling that Nikon near future release of D700 is gonna eclipse Canon 5D Mkii on mid range full frame DSLR. Same as what D300 did to 40D on Semi Pro category.

So what do you guys think? Nikon seems to be fighting to break Canon Monopoly on the DSLR market.
Even now that many wedding photographers are picking up a D300 as a pro camera for their assignments while 40D still remains at the advanced enthusiast amatuer/ semi pro category.
Hope to see a huge improvement on the 5D mkii to catch up on the bandwagon again.

IMHO, the performance difference of all brand camera will be minimum in a few years time. The difference will not be the performance of the camera, but may be the user preference, camera operation interface, camera quality consistency, lenses, cost, service and support.

I agree with that. I'll invest my money on the good lens rather than thinking hard on the DSLR technology.
Cause good Lens may last me for 10 yrs but the Body maybe 3-4 yrs at most..

My comment was not directed to the market but to the mentality attached to these changes. Just because a new camera is launched doesn't render the others inferior almost immediately.

There'll still be room for improvement, especially in terms of the noise department. Followed by fps. Live view and dust cleaning is like... errr
