Change laptop if your laptop is very old. But mine's 10mths old only and i don't use Photoshop so it's no issue for me. I suppose i'll just settle for the 5D in July.
Hmm touching on not using Photoshop..if you want certain look for pics straight out of cam I am sure you'll find the Picture Styles of the 5D a boon over ur 10D.

If you shoot only JPEG mode, I think still ok, the files shouldn't be that large...but RAW is a different story altogether.

Well i've never shot RAW, always in jpeg.

I think its not the time yet... My G4 is still alive and kicking and helped me alot. ;)

i was sooo close to selling my 30D and 30mm to buy a 5D with the US cashback offer but have decided to wait for the release of the updated version (if it ever comes out).

I dun see any images of that imaginative product leh.

I read another article about the 1000D somewhere else, but I dont see the point of launching a low-end DSLR when you already have the XT/XTi

Cos laptops are just like handphones and other electronics, no end to upgrading. Just use until it's too old or broken down then change, if not more money will be wasted just to upgrade to keep up with the trend.

I am still waiting

I'm thinking so hard if I should just buy a 5D now or wait for the MKII =( any advise to give?

I'd wait. I think there a very good chance that we're months away from an update.
5D design/features are going to be 3yrs old soon. If the Canon keeps the next model for 3 years also, then you'll be stuck with 3-6y old features for another 3yrs... a long time in technology terms.

5D will play catch up with new features already standard on its 40D,450D,1DMkIII siblings (eg live view, dust reduction, large LCD, Lighting optimiser, improved AF). And who knows, it may even push the envelope to catch up with Nikon/Sony features like HDMI output and a hi-resolution LCD monitor?

If you can be SURE you'll not regret missing out on these features 'if only you had waited 6 months more', then by all means go out an buy the 5D now.

But if you know you're going to feel 'gian', if you already have a camera now, or you know you'll appreciate the new features, then I'd suggest waiting.

I came very very very close to buying a 5D when I was in HK last month but decided to wait.

Really interesting to read some of the postings here. It's nice to speculate, but some have gone kind of far, IMHO.

It's amazing how some could do a detailed analysis of the situation, down to the tiny bit nitty gritty specs. It's almost like writing some technical thesis or doing some stock market research.

Photography is a passion. Camera a tool. It's either you need it or not. If you are willing to wait for months later thinking that a MkII will be out, then perhaps photography may not be a passion to you. Maybe more like a camera equipment specs appreciation game.

In the time that these people are playing the waiting game, those who are passionate about photography would have literally taken thousands of breathtaking images with their 350D, 400D, 450D, 10,20,30,40D.

For me i've made up my mind for the 5D cos i just need a FF DSLR to replace my 10D.

I seriously think it's think this thread should be closed. Until Canon announces officially, let's go out to shoot more rather than sit here speculating on things which never exist in the first place. Seeing is believing. Predicting is another thing. If the intention of buying cameras is to reduce loss, then it's not photography anymore.

Agree. This speculation is going to continue until Canon breaks its silence.
