50mm f/1.8

sry ah... I know this is canon's discussion... If we are talking abt cropped body, did anyone consider 30mm f1.4 from sigma?

Seems like a better choice for crop rite?

you may need to calibrate the sigma 30mmf1.4. I never own it but from the user thread, this is a very solid lens.

In fact, I'm still yet to decide to get cannon 28mmf1.8 or this sigma lens.

Already owned a 50mmf1.8 but it is a bit tight for me. :(

If you are thinking of getting the 28mm f1.8, I strongly encourage you to head down to Canon showroom in Vivo to try it out first before committing. My opinion after trying it is that even though it is a f1.8 lens, it is very very soft wide open. Having said that, there are many that swear by this lens.

I have since picked up a 35mm f2.0. The IQ beats the 28mm hands down. You may want to give it a try to see if you like the 35mm FL. I will personally skip the 50mm FL on crop body, because I find it to be "not here not there". But that's just me ;)

so far i got all the quotes are as follows
MS color 125
TK 125

any others got new quote?

You can try Parisilk and SLRR. I managed to get 121 from Parisilk. SLRR quoted me 121 too.

$4 discount does not justify for me to travel over as MS is much nearer for me..... heehee

if 110, i dont mind travelling down.

+1... MS is only 10mins walk away from me. As compared to Funan which is like 30+ mins away.

Ahhh... Didn't know your location so... :) Definitely not worth the travels for $4 (Transport kills!)

wonder if i shld let go of my 50mm 1.8...?(2 sets)under/not utilised..
got one bought 2yrs ago with 500D..used less than 10x
got another one in nov 10 bundled with 60D...not used at all.
(enuf lens to play with..C15-85/T28-75/C18-55/C70-300/T90mm/8mmFE/S18-200/C28mm)
What would be a fair price to let go?

hmm.. look like i settle for a sigma 30mmf1.4 then..

but the 50mmf1.8 is the cheapest lens, if use on outdoor at night it is a very sharp lens. Use indoor is a bit tight, that why I sourcing for another wide angle prime lens :)

Personally, I wouldn't bother thinking about saving $5 to $10 if it involves more than 30 mins of travelling time (to and fro)..... just doesn't justify it. But that's just me :D

I agree with this.

In fact I find it puzzling why some people want to spend $100-$110 buying 2nd hand copies, when a brand new one cost just $15 more.....

Same lo. That why I am getting 1st hand.

Just gotten mine at MS at $125, plus $10 Tokina filter...

I'm a user of this lens too, got mine from SLRR @ $121. Any suggestion on how to take good landscape using this lens?

If i were u, i'd stop down to f/5.6 or f/8. Just point and shoot and also depends on whether u're on FF or crop.
