Which 50mm f/1.4 prime lens is on your Canon DSLR?

I gotten my 50mm f1.4 from Tin Cheung 3mths ago, super impressed by their service.
I received the lens within 48hours upon payment.
You might just want to give them a courtesy call after you've made the payment, then they would despatch it out the same evening.
Total spent $630 (includes shipping + GST).
Hope this helps.

Anybody else who got their lenses from Tin Cheung in HK? Care to share about the following:

1) Does the set come with international warranty that will be honoured by Sigma Singapore, and that we will be receiving international warranty card together with the official receipt and properly stamped and official?

2) The return policy for the lens should there be anything wrong with it.

If the set comes with international warranty that is honoured in Singapore, mayhaps we can do a bulk order so as to save on the shipping cost also. Anyone interested in that?

I think Tin Cheung sells both warranty sets as well as grey sets. i'm not too sure about the ones that on their online shop. You should ask bro LimTH.

However, do note that Sigma Singapore will charge $80 for calibration as warranty does not cover calibration over here. (Weird i know, but true) Read this somewhere in the Sigma 50 1.4 thread on our forums... thats the main reason why i wanna get it when im in HK (so that i can test for a sharp copy.)

Hi FFA,
The lens has been GREAT, no regrets, still keeping it. Warranty-wise, it's NOT covered in Sin.
Worst case, pay $80 for calibration in Sin if it's not focusing well.

May I ask did you choose or Speedpost EMS from Hongkong Post for your shipment? :dunno:
It was sent to me by Speedpost. delivered to my doorstep with GST invoice too. haha

Don't say that lah, think about it, if really Sigma Singapore were to be out of business, where are we going to calibrate our lens??

Mine was without warranty, IMO, what could go "So Wrong" with a lens other than focusing issues? Again be prepared to pay $80 for calibration.

Just to side track a bit... does anyone have experience with the Sigma 85 f1.4? That seems to be another great lens by Sigma but so far there isnt much reviews/fan fare for this lens...

Thanks for the detailed reply Bro! I am asking more questions with Sigma HK and Tin Cheung now. Will see how it goes. Thanks again!

Anybody else have good experience buying over the net with Tin Cheung HK? Can come in and share your experience?

Did they get back to you?

Did they get back to you?

Hi Bro,

So far, Tin Cheung has replied:

"The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens is now available for a price of HK$3307.5. Postage to Singapore via EMS will be HK$134.

A Sigma one year international warranty card is going to be included in the box but please check with your local Sigma to see if that warranty applies at country and a stamped receipt will be provided to you upon request.

Item can be exchanged within 14 days of purchase if there is any thing wrong with the lens."

I am checking with Sigma HK whether Tin Cheung is an authorized reseller of Sigma and whether the International Warranty will be useful in Singapore or not. So far no reply from them yet.

Have to check with Sigma Singapore also I think.

Let you know again. If everything is fine, maybe we can buy together and hopefully get more discount/save on freight costs.

you save about 130 dollars...im guessing its not that big a difference considering you get 1.5 years more warranty + peace of mind during that period

Hi there,

Think the savings about $185 (price + Freight + GST). I got a quote for the same lens at Alan Photo for $830 w GST.

Hmmm.. Newbie question. Do you think that the additional 1.5 years warranty is required? Canon and Nikon is both 1 year, + 3 months if register online. Just thinking whether do the lens really fall apart during the 1 year?
