Hi NMSS_2,

Do you shoot RAW or JPEG direct with your camera???

I only shoot RAW format and then convert to JPEG with Oly s/w. When direct from camera, I do notice RAW have more "juice" compare to JPEG.

jpeg niah! i find that the raw and jpeg are almost the same.

so asking how to get more juice out! ;p i am ps and raw idiot.

Btw - i hate using oly s/w! beri slow in processing.;p

sorry to OT a little. how do you get more details out from RAW instead of the usual JPEG?

Yes, I usually shoot in RAW for formal photography events. But for normal family day to day shooting, I use 5MP JPEG, which automatically sharpened by default, punchy colours and good enough for various sizes printouts.

The RAW files from E-300 do have more details because the E-300 does some noise-reduction (I think both luminance and chroma) before saving to JPEG. It's not an issue for general photos, but macros and other alikes, the extra details could be important.

kktan, my new internet connection is not stable, not PC too fast....and there's no such thing as too fast as we always crave for faster processor.

Do you mean that 5MP sharper than 8MP? Maybe because of the downsampling? Do you notice that there is less noise when shooting high ISO in 5MP mode with the E-300? I do.

I tried using CS2 RAW to process the E-300 ORFs and the results is stunning to say the least. Certainly looking better than the files from E-1 in terms of detail which means better large printouts.

OK, getting OT, we better start new thread on RAW processing with E-system. :)

Excellent Lens. Yes, its sharp and handy.

Low light focusing was improved with the Firmware update on E1 and the lens.

Gone are the days where I have to lug 2 lenses to cover this same range. Considering the nice F2.8-3.5. I think the price is well reasonable.

Yo NMSS

Sharing my workflow:
1) I used to only shoot JPG but lately tried RAW (just RAW without JPG).
2) Use Bibble Pro to open to adjust EV, levels etc.
3) From Bibble Pro, export as JPG to a EXPORTED FOLDER
4) Use Picassa 2 to view EXPORTED FOLDER
5) Use Picassa 2 to crop, add effects then export to DESTINATION FOLDER (e.g. for posting or printing)

Around S$1600+.

IMO, considered 'cheap' if you compared with f2.8 zooms from the likes of Nikon trinity and Canon L series. :D

Good price considering if can reach 400mm equivalent :)

If only the price of the 50-200mm could come down some more, then it will be "perfect". :bsmilie: :sweatsm: ;p
