50-200mm, how fast? how sharp?

It's Zuiko Digital 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 (eq. 100-400mm). This lens is sharp and fast (bright).

It's sharp even at max tele wide opened, capable of maintaining f2.8 up to 92mm (eq. 184mm).

With this lens, it's roughly equivalent to 80-200mm f2.8 on 35mm format but lighter and smaller footprint, and most importantly, the bonus to zoom till 400mm equivalent!

So, you know what I mean by, "shiok"!

i think u are comparing 2 different price range of lens if i am not wrong the nikon 55-200 is a cheaper lens , this lens is great for its weight and performance . 100-400 wow ! have u tested the lens at its 200(400) mm range at wide open ? hows the result ?

IMO, considered 'cheap' if you compared with f2.8 zooms from the likes of Nikon trinity and Canon L series.

This lens, like the current f2.8 series, are just the tip of the iceberg. Olympus is releasing many new professional f2.0 zooms end of this year. Hopefully, their new E-1 replacement can match up with the pro bodies from Nikon and Canon in terms of speed and resolution to take full advantage of these amazing new lenses.

Hehe, kktan, not yet. I've just upgraded my PC for faster RAW processing. It's amazing to see those details revealed from processing RAW, and to better optimise the quality of the excellent Zuiko lenses.

Do you shoot RAW or JPEG direct with your camera???

I only shoot RAW format and then convert to JPEG with Oly s/w. When direct from camera, I do notice RAW have more "juice" compare to JPEG.
