400D VS d70s

Between those 2, I would choose the 400D,
the reason being because I already have canon lenses and would be able to use those on the400D.

For someone who is totally new, the 400D will be better interms of RES, Noise, features....D70s will be more hand holdable with heavier lens. So depends whether you want advance technology or handling?

The most fundamental thing is, do you already have Canon / Nikon lenses?
If you don't, get the one you feel better with. Try both out in a store.

i would get the Canon as i already have Canon lenses

i think it's around there. there's a pricelist in the Canon forum.

if you're just starting out, why not consider a second hand 350D instead of the 400D?

u should be able to pick one up for under $900 with the kit lens!

not sure what's on the Nikon front - maybe a D50?

Yup, 350D going cheap now. 400D should be around 1.4K too.
If you are looking for D70s, quick call cathay, cause I was told got one more package set from the IT show, $1788 (not exactly sure abt price, should be around here) with manfrotto tripod and lots of other photographic stuff to start of with. IMO, this is good package.

Note: you can rent both camera to try out from the people in clubsnap then make a choice.
