ahahahha..... i also want......... haiz... budget la.. if im rich of course i will get the best 1 la.. hahaha........ my dream camera is CANON 1D MARK 2........ woohooo

hahaha....... ok.. thanks guys....... 400d is good la..so is d70s... im using d70s now...lol.

thinking of selling it to get 400d.

Why? D70 not good enough??

IMHO, use what you have..:) save the money to buy better lens:thumbsup:

On choosing which system to use, there is no answer to it... It is like asking which is better in the game of rock-scissor-paper... No ending to it... Up to own personal preference... ;)

Cheers! Hope you have chosen the right system for yourself! :)

hi people,

I am having the same problem.

400D or D70s, and now the big problem comes when i visited cathy yesterday, both cam with kit cost ard $1.4 k. Ahhhh, how huh, I need a cam before I go for holiday in 2 weeks.

I have a friend who uses 350D, he told me the batt grip is essential for the canon body as it's too small for comfort. In that case, 400D would cost $200 more, that makes the D70s alittle cheaper in contrast?

What do you guys think?

do note that d70s come with AFS 18-70, a much better lens than most other kit lens.

but its up to you which one do you want. my advise is look at the lens price list of both brand, and roughly figure what lens will you be getting and maybe you can get the one that are more affordable. Other than that think about the pro/con of both system and see which one is more suitable for you

Here is what i think:

how big is your frined's hand compare to yours?
the point is, this camera is design to be small, light and compact (for a dslr).
the thing is, if i tell you 1v is light and small for me. it should go with with the grip aka 1vhs. does it means your should follow too? bare in mind, without batteries, 1v weighs 945g, 1vhs weighs 1380g.

i tried both not long ago and i bought D70s in the end...the user interface and the grip won the bid ;)

got myself a 400d... was in the same dilemma but figure that 400d has more features than d70s. But i know i'd be happy with either as my first dslr :) heck, i'd be happy with d40 even.

it's not a fair comparison imho.
400d is recently released, d70s was released quite a while ago ;)

d70s has better kit lens and build quality plus a status lcd,
but 400d has better sensor, screen.

if i really have to recommend one of these, i would recommend the 400d.

I'm also torn between these 2 models...but my friends all have Nikon DSLR so they are asking me to get the D70s so that we can 'share' the lens...
It seems like the right thing to do given that some lens are so costly and you can't possibly end up getting everything...
But functions wise prefer the 400D...
*lost*....

Oh well , jus try out the features ... see which suits u more .. One more things , sometimes, if ur frens needs the lens , u also cannot get to use lens too .. Moral of the story : get urs too ... ;)

i went for the 400d because i figured that if i were to do this for the long run, i'd be stuck with the body more than the lens. That's why i go for the features of the 400d even though the lens is just 18-55.

" it is the man behind the camera, not the camera, a matured photographer should know how to utilize his or her equipment at its best.. "

ever consider the D80? think it an excellent camera

Will the D80 be an overkill for a beginner like me? Too complicated? Or it's recommended to start with a less complicated model and learn the basics 1st rather than jump straight into a complex model?

dun think so....morever d80 is better in term of noise ctrl and image quality than 70d
if d80 out for u due to higher cost...go for 400d instead of 70d
