The main handling benefit of the 30D over the 350D is that extra wheel.

For 350D, to change aperture in Av mode = turn the wheel
change aperture in P, Tv & M mode = press a button b4 turning the wheel

I won't say it's hard to change aperture lah, when u get used to it don't really need to think. But of course having 2 wheels are better, like I used to hv with my EOS50..

On the other hand, the good thing abt 350D or 400D is that you have the option to travel light. Detach the vertical grip & you have a lightweight but capable body tt is great for travelling, want better grip & more stability just add on the grip. :D

Orh doens't sound so bad. Ok might consider buying one as backup

And if you think those 1/3 ISO sensitivities 30D have are of much use... look at this

The 400D spec makes my jaw drop.

what's the Integrated Cleaning System??

Since we've met before I would think that the 30D would suit you more.

heard it's the design/coating of the shutter and sensor + ultrasonic thingy.

Oops.. made some mistakes, allow me to correct myself a bit:

For 350D, to change aperture in Av & P mode = turn the wheel
Change aperture in M mode = press a button b4 turning the wheel

In Tv mode, if u press the button & turn the wheel, u will change the exposure compensation.. aperture is a variable in Tv mode mah.. :embrass:

I usually shoot in M mode, so quite used to press that button with my thumb & dial with my index finger for changing of aperture liao.

I think all is a matter of practise and mastering the different cam body....

If you are used to one style, it is always easier than the other... ;)

400d vs. 30d... mm... i think they are of different generations... thou i see the same DIGIC II image processor on both cams.. mm.. the sensor's megapixel count distincts both cams liao... i would like to see the replacement of 30d .. say.. 5 fps .. 12.1 megapixel... DIGIC II processor.. dust filter thingy.. 9 pt AF... haha.... anyone wana predict when we can get sensors gd enuff to take ISO 6400? haha.. ''nikon can go make scanners'' quoted..

400D doesn't have a dedicated information LCD display. May not be such a big con though...

Bingo.. The dedicated info LCD display is rather useful. With that reduction, the size of the 400D may end up even quite a bit smaller than the 350D, wouldn't it? I wonder what's the battery life of it going to be like..

maybe they following sony/km and use the big fat 2.5" LCD as a information/setting screen.:bsmilie:

So the 400D cannot select to show histogram & shutter speed/aperture settings beside pics..?

That's a step backwards man..

I will not drool over the new 400D, my dream is still the 1DMK2N. Struggling to save enough $$$ for it.
