Hmm where do I get the cheapest mounting board?

Art Friend has A3-sized cardboards for abt $1.20 each...

The SYPA website is up now too :)

Pic taken back 2 years ago is it usable in this competition?

how long does it take to develop the photos? and erm.. is there anyway to prevent the printing to be too dark/bright? Last minute work as well...too busy =/

for 8R prints, allow at least 2-3 days for processing.

Best way to assess the prints from a lab is to print 3R or 4R copies and tweak the gamma/colours if necessary after that, before spending on the 8R prints.

and btw, the website is back up.

u can go to miao lann,(or any other lab recommended here on CS)

they should allow let u check the calibrated screen and miao lann printed my s8rs in 10mins! :)

the last time i when art friend, the A3 boards were out of stock...

Heya guys,

I have a few questions. Hope you guys could enlighten me?

1) Is desaturating parts of a photo, leaving a coloured portion allowed? Is that considered distorting reality?

2) Is square crop allowed. That is 10" by 10"?

3) Which photolab develops e fastest n better photos? average how long does it take to develop 8r n S8R photos?

4) When I submit my photo prints, must I include e digital copies as well? N e original copies before touch up? Or only upon notification if shortlisted?

Thanks Guys!

And All e best for the competition.

Currently doing last minuete work...Pretty rushed...hehh.

Do you guys think Singapore Flyer considered still life ? Very confused on this one....

Thanks :D

1) Not sure, email them.
2) Rules didn't state that square crop is allowed..
3) Don't know about fast, but try the normally recommended ones like Ruby, Konota, Colourlab etc
4) Read the rules

=)

Might be best to ask them. However I hope they will be able to answer you on time given the fact that they may be overloaded by similar questions round about this time.

It's debatable as to what exactly, distorts reality. If you look at previous winners you can see that a fair degree of post processing is actually allowed, and whether or not that distorts reality is up to you. However it was apparently acceptable to the judges. Wish you all the best in getting a definitive answer. Personally, I would say it's acceptable, but hey, I'm not the one judging. :bsmilie:

1) Hmm maybe to play safe since we're closer to the deadline try not to. :D
2) Nope squares are not allowed
3) I printed mine at Triple D and they only took about 30mins.. I'm actually quite impressed with their colour rendition, to me it seems nicer than on my monitor IMO :D
4) Ehh, i submitted mine already but i didn't include the digital copies, i think they'll inform you if they want the original copies ;p

Good luck!

Waa...printing is damn ex!!! mine is like $6 per photo!!! printed at colour lab.

2. Each applicant is eligible to submit only 1 set of prints, consisting of 6 prints that must cover at least 4 of the following 8 subject matters:

Abstract
Architecture/Buildings
Children at play
People at work
Portrait(s)
Nature
Still Life
Night Scene

3. Participants who also wish to vie for the CDL Young Architecture Photographer Award in addition to the Singapore Young Photographer Award are required to submit a minimum of 2 images on the subject “Architecture / Buildings” in their portfolio of 6 prints. That is, their portfolio should consist of 2 images on “Architecture / Buildings” and 4 images on 3 or more of the other subjects stated in point 2 above.

Means if i will to select the 2 categories on Architecture / Buildings”, i need to select 3 or more..but if i will to select 3 categories from part 2 only, means i have to repeat it in 1 of my chosen category right?
