Thank you to both lioneldude and hongwen37 for the clarification. It had helped me in my planning. Please see post #20 of this thread http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574118
Hi hi
Anyone has experience setting the white balance for the night race using a Nikon D80. I am trying to set using the in-camera kelvin scale rather than taking an actual white balance reading. Thanks for the help.![]()
you may want to try using 'Flash'... i don't know lah. i always use 'Auto' and then do post-processing later.
those photog holes (in the bird cage) are meant for press photogs. i don't think the general public have access to them. being on the straight, the only photography opportunities are shooting the pits.
i think it's difficult to get decent shots of cars screaming down the straight... unless your panning skills have attained jedi level.
Flash to freeze the cars?

I think he meant the preset WB called "Flash".
Hi mohgui and huggable
thanks for the responses ...
i am lazy to shoot in raw and do post processing so i thought if i can adjust for the kelvin value of the lights, then i will get the correct white balance. I manage to find a website and it says the temp of the lights used are around 4200k .. so keeping fingers crossed
omg anyone going? my boss just gave me a free pass on the 26th at Padang Grandstand, is it good?
Alternatively, you can use a white card, and use custom WB to set at the trackside itself.
Tell them to ref to this thread if they want to know! Then we will be famous WorldWide over the night!:bsmilie:
