Anyone has experience with Pit Grandstand? How is the view like there? Good for photography?

In my opinion, the cars are running on the same side as the grandstands, which means they are just under the noses of those in row 1. Difficult to get any nice shots unless you can access the photog holes.

those photog holes (in the bird cage) are meant for press photogs. i don't think the general public have access to them. being on the straight, the only photography opportunities are shooting the pits.

i think it's difficult to get decent shots of cars screaming down the straight... unless your panning skills have attained jedi level.

Yup they are for FIA accredited personnel. Trying to access those cage without authorized access may get you thrown out...

Please dont try it...

Hi hi
Anyone has experience setting the white balance for the night race using a Nikon D80. I am trying to set using the in-camera kelvin scale rather than taking an actual white balance reading. Thanks for the help. :)

you may want to try using 'Flash'... i don't know lah. i always use 'Auto' and then do post-processing later.

Flash to freeze the cars?

Correct. The photographer's box is only for those with the photographer or media tags.

I think he meant the preset WB called "Flash".

Hi mohgui and huggable

thanks for the responses ...
i am lazy to shoot in raw and do post processing so i thought if i can adjust for the kelvin value of the lights, then i will get the correct white balance. I manage to find a website and it says the temp of the lights used are around 4200k .. so keeping fingers crossed

Alternatively, you can use a white card, and use custom WB to set at the trackside itself.

Of course it is worth going... But yours is the Qualifying session so less interesting.. No wheel to wheel action and no overtaking to see...

Guys, any idea can I bring my tripod on the race night? tq

Does anyone know where is the pit entry seats? Under Pit grandstand, Block PE2 Row 2 seat 10
