1st trip to Taiwan

Also, if you're going to 淡水, and have a bit of budget, should go up the staircase on your right to 淡水紅樓. It's a restaurant that serves good food. A little on the high side, but still cheaper than Singapore. Their 醉草蝦 super nice. Worth every cent.

16GB depends on what you taking. If only photos, should be enough. If include video, sure not enough! :bsmilie:

Also, it depends on how many days you going. I was there for 8 days. Took about 10-12GB of photos.

i taking RAW, then i tend to do HDR also

You can try the 菁桐鐵道之旅 at Taipei Country. Very classic and retro. Also, 十分瀑布 is worth a visit. It's along the railway at 十分車站. Try to arrange for an entire day for this. You won't want to leave this place I assure you. :)

Err... What does the chinese character read?

Bro, I suggest you go buck up your Chinese ba. Can't survive in Taiwan without knowing Chinese. :bsmilie:

Try walking from the railway station to the waterfall. You'll enjoy it more. Very nice scenary along the way. As for public transport, I don't think so. There's only the 106 highway along the way, but I didn't see any buses commuting. There may be taxis, but not worth it IMO. All of the tourist to the waterfall use their 2 legs. :bsmilie:

Yes, if you know how to communicate in Hokkien, it will be very fun. I enjoyed chit chatting with the old folks there. They are the friendly lot and have lived along the railway from young. Told me a lot of stories about the place. :)

Plan your time. It's worth the walk.

Also, even if you alight along the road, you'll still need to walk in about 1-2 km to the waterfall site. There's no direct road to the waterfall! :)

Am planning a backpacking trip to Taiwan too. Tentatively planning to go for 10-14 days in Oct.

Any of you guys got an itinerary planned out already? Care to share?
