At d end of d day,d subject who loves d pic is already d photographer"s greatest satisfaction.

good try.. n i think agetan has given v constructive comments..
just something addtional.. i thot the black n white tones are a bit flat.. could have been better if there is more contrast.. cheers

Hi Biocell,

Your boss trusts you a lot!
Here are my honest comments for overall.

I appreciate the effort. I thought you had some concepts in mind you are after and that's a gud start!

I thought the "feel" for the series can better.
I'm unsure about the flowers. I thought they are cheesy & steal her spotlight.

Generally, the colours can be softer and more consistent.
Contrast are overdone.

Babies are very soft creatures. Hence the hands posing/handling should be gentle too to get the "feel".

My fav is number 2. I'm sure she feels really safe and comfortable that moment. :)

Cheers mate

Well, the second series is better on the first image as the "pink" now is not the issue, but then again as mentioned the untidiness of the cloth distract the viewer from the image. also the B&W is too flat to my liking...

image 2, the main focus is the little hand holding the finger and it should be sharp, however, in this case it is OOF and it become very distracting to have the hair in focus as B&W tend to allow the viewer to look at the "details" and textures of the image.

this is how most viewer would look at an image, from sharp to blur and from light to dark. So if you think about this before you snap, it should give you a better outcome.

image 3, I figure you are trying to have a silhouette shot, but this image is really just under expose and there isn't much "shape" to grab the viewer's attention. For silhouette shots, you need to place your subject which your background lighting should be about 3 stop over or more to get the proper silhouette. For silhouette shots, you really need to work on the "shadow".

All in all, in terms of image, what you should look at before you click
1. what you are going to say about the image
2. look around for the element that you want to "add" to the image, remove it if it doesn't add anything
3. look at the lighting on that location
4. change these elements until you "got" it before you click.

To illustrate, here is one of my shot...

The shot above is what I was looking for, but the bottom shot is easier to shot but the details are messy.

Hope it helps...

Hart

I like this set better.

Very insightful tips from Agetan, even with a pix to illustrate. I think if you follow the step 1 to 4 then you'll get better shot.

I thought the shadow is a little harsh for shot 1. Probably u can consider cropping daddy's hairy finger and bring some details back on baby's fingers for shot 2. For shot 3, i love the idea though the shape of the silhouette can be better!

Nevertheless, shot 1 is my fav! :)

Cheers mate

Your series is nice..
From earlier thread, I Understand the High key and the low key.. May you share if you have deliberately go to a dark background to achieve this effect??

Thanks. I'll try to apply in future. Yeah try to shoot behind a black background.

Thanks for your sharing..
