Well... I was looking out for the 1D Mk 3, but i see that it's going to be a long...long... wait for it. My father is really excited about this camera now, and i hate to tell him that there's really no stock in Singapore at all. But anyway, does anyone know, or can hazard a guess as to how much and when new stock will arrive? Like a more precise date to it, because my father going off to china soon, and we might miss the chance to get one, if we do decide to ;) .

End June, price will be $6999 and below (Depends on your relationship with the shop). Got it for my uncle at $6500...still quite high I think.

Hmm... Thats quite a long time away, (no time to play with it during school holidays), but i suppose should concentrate on my mid-years directly after june holidays. But don't mind me if I ask some "basic" questions about the 1D Mk 3. Is the 1.3 crop factor terribly detrimental to the FOV for wide angles, since i only have a 17-40? Also, if I use a f/4 lens, will the speed of the AF in lowlight conditions be compromised?

The price of 1D mk III will come down a bit after a few batches. Those who bought the first batch will normally pay a higher price.

My friend was quoted $6,400, waiting for the stock to arrive.

Thats quite true... It's pretty much the same for most products, early adoptors pay a premium in price and time to work out the bugs in the early batchs of the product.

1DM3 currently is the only camera that as high sensitive AF point for lens with aperture F4 or bigger. The current 1D only works with lens F2.8 or bigger.

IIRC, 1DMkII/IIN has 7 highly sensitive (cross sensor) AF points when lens of aperture f2.8 or faster is used (vertical array in the centre), and a single cross sensor AF point (the centre point) when lens of f4 aperture is used. But anything smaller then f4, all sensors are single line sensitive only.
