10k Club on Canon Equipments

started off with a mere 1.6k camera set, telling myself, i will never buy un-necessary accessories.. But end up spending till 4k after poison...

Yes indeed the photography hobby is expensive especially when one considers that all equipment, depreciates significantly over time.

The only thing that keeps me going is getting that photograph that someone else is willing to pay $10K to own. Now that's truly a 10K club! :D

It is good the companies continue to make and give us good product at resonable price. I am glad the price of 5D mkii dropped to 3.1k from 4k+ when it was first released.

Canon / Nikon and Sony are the companies i would consider. I hope Sony and Nikon will put more heat on Canon to push out competitive products.

I already own canon accessories and lens so most likely i will stay on with Canon. Sony does offer innovation tech like built in GPS but nah i dont need it.

Am i correct to say the resale value of Canon is higher than Nikon and Sony?

Indeed Nikon and especially Sony push Canon to be more competitive in term of products and pricing.
The resale value is depend on demand. When I left Australia 3 years ago, the resale values of Sony lenses are higher than Canon lenses since not much shop (outside Sony shop) willing to sell Sony DSLR products. If there is stock, price also quite expensive. But the demand is quite high, some friend of mine become Sony convert and has difficulties to find gears especially Zeiss lenses. They imported through eBay, and another sites. On another side, Canon gears are easier to find. Now the situation is changing I think

$6000 ... 4k to go
I take it as a "saving". The interest return is "e o s".:)
Bank interest so low, bond also waste time.
Put in Cpf is crazy, play share like gamble.
Go casino is stupid.

Actually I'd be interested to find out who can build up a system without breaking the 10k barrier.

resale value aside, Canon got much better after sales support so I never worry about getting used lens or body.

If there is any problem, I trust that Canon will be able to fix it at a very reasonable price.

:think:20k club soon??

I agree wholeheartedly (:

I feel bad for those who cant control and cant afford. ;p
Is there a Canon Voluntary Exclusion program ?

The cost of an L lens, and the marginal gain it brings, can buy you alot of happiness elsewhere.
e,g, for me, I could get a road bike (leg power), a go-kart, setup a planted aquarium. I use this to rationalise the meaning of 2K. Sometimes, 2K gets lost in translation, among all this big (L-lens) money.

I started with a $350 used 20D...that was a bad move. Poisoned, i searched for a replacement...found it in 60D. Bought a 15-85mm to go along with it. Now just bought a polarizer and looking to buy another sturdier tripod...what happened?! I wanted to stop at the 20D...

That is the nature of a passion. You discover within yourself a passion and soon it takes over your being. Welcome to the club! :)
