Yeah great idea on portraiture shot...100% agree. But theres alot of terms & conditions. How can we manage it?

The terms and condition, like for example getting a model. Finding a suitable location..what are the subject for the portrait shot. ( IS it just a portrait shot of his/her face) or either posing with beautiful clothes or bikini shoot..ahahahaha. Quite troublesome la..

Anway..if anyone have a better idea and solutions.maybe we can make it happen on the official 5th outing..:)

Guess chakka, depster and draken are at ubin now. hopefully they dont get their camera wet. Since its raining..hehehe

oh thanks emotic! But what is mirror lock ar? I can't find it in the settings. Can guide me pls?
Do u think i need an external flash? Thanks for the guide!

No prob.. You can enable the mirror lock function under the Custom Function (C.Fn) menu..

How the mirror lock works: 1st shutter press (not half-press), mirror flips up. 2nd shutter press, shutter curtain open and close.. If you set a timer (eg. 2sec), there'll be no need to press the shutter button for a 2nd time, as it is automatically activated 2sec after the mirror locks up..

Why use mirror lock? Besides handshake, camera shake and subject movement, the flipping of the mirror upon pressing the shutter release contributes to camera shake, thus resulting in images that might not be as sharp as you want them to be.. So why set a timer? So you can hold your pose for 2sec and not worry about having to press the shutter release for a 2nd time to open/close the shutter curtain.. ;) And 2sec is enough to eliminate the vibration effects of the mirror flip..

Try reading up your manual too.. Hope this helps.. Happy posing and shooting.. :bsmilie:

You might also wanna consider joining us for our photography outings.. Shoot more and learn more..

if u use M, u need to adjust the Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO manually. :)

Right..

You have to play around with your ISO, shutter and aperture.. Try setting your ISO to 200.. Try not to go below f/5.6 and 1/80 for optimum sharpness throughout..

What type of light do you use? Ambient light? What about flash? If you're using built-in flash, try to bump up the exposure compensation (+2).. Adjust accordingly.. It'd be better if you have an external speedlite.. Can do bounce flash, which gives more even lighting and less harsh shadows..

If you are familiar with ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture, M mode is no problem. But if you are not sure abt these terms, i would suggest not to use M mode. Try with other mode and learn from that. ;)

All this settings are best learnt hands on. Next outing, I volunteer Emotic to teach you all the sacred M (manual) mode...
