btw, how much do you pay for the Hoya +4close up filter ?

dinoyeo

have you tried a 70-300mm lens with a close up filter?

you may be surprised...

there are people who even pay good money for canon 70-200mm f/2.8 and canon 500D filter

500D at work

should not cost u more than 30. iirc.

a better one would be either the Canon 500 or 250 (forgot the exact model), or the Nikon ones...

The Normal HOYA +4 filter is not recommended. A better option I would recommend is the HOYA +5 Achromatic filter (spelling might be wrong). its a 2 element close up filter costing about $90

Try the 25mm tube, you will be surprised with the increased magnification. I use Kenko. Tubes do not have any glass so brand not really important here.

To sctan000: the Hoya filter costs $25. first time buy so no idea if it's cheap or ex?

To slooow: I din know tat it can work with my 75-300mm len till u mentioned :o. So I just took out my len and camera to try. interesting that the distance between len and object is completely different now. it can take object nearer and bigger too! except that if the zoom go beyond 200mm, the picture is slightly darker and not so clear. Hmm... I learnt something again! Btw, are those photo under http://textblog.anands.net taken using the Canon filter 500D u mentioned? Quite impressive!

Btw, anyone use monopod (1 legged tripod) to shoot macro photo? is it useful? Thinking of getting a cheap one.

Here's my first batch of macro photo taken this morning at Botanic Garden. Only these 3 are acceptable ones.

I am looking for a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro too. May I know the shop name on Lucky Plaza where you got the lens? Thanks in advance

nope, i'm budgeted now so din get any flash light :(

hi southundeep, the shop name is Lords Cameras at #01-79. from the entrance, it's somewhere at the middle right. the saleman is raymond. i got it at 750 without warrenty. and if i'm not wrong, i got the last pc so u better call them before u go if u interested.

I think the local warrantied set is selling at around $780-$850.

Your grey set is not really that cheap after all imho.

ya, i've checked a few shop. warrantied one selling at 830 except MS Color selling 1050. this one i got is directly import from japan i think?

Yes, I use a monopod occasionally when I need a more stable platform for shooting. It's a lil more cumbersome than handheld, but when you tire after some time, it's good to have a monopod to stabilise the whole rig (camera, lens and flash)

You mean that MS color is selling at the Canon 100mm at $1050? Perhaps you might want to check again, because I got it there recently at less than $800.

I called both old and new shops, they told me the same price. Can't be wrong...

Hmm...I know that there is a backlog of orders, but the increase in price is really too much. Perhaps you try asking for an e-qoute, doesnt hurt to try.

Edited: From your signature, you seemed to have bought it already, so i guess it doesnt matter.

Didn't now the price at MS has gone up so much. I knew someone who paid 810 at MS recently (?couple of months). Inflation here olreadi??? Thanks for the info!
