No one interested after revealing that the lens used is a Minolta? No more glow and magic?

Bro Weekh,

I'm amazed that you can show amazing photos not only using Zeiss lenses but also with Minolta lens. No doubt, you have strong knowledge in photography.

Sorry for being OT. How do you mount the Minolta Rokkor lens into your Canon 5D?
Where do you buy the adapter with AF confirmation chip? Able to focus infinity?
Thanks.

I bought the ZF 50/2 last week and have been really impresssed by the beautiful results.
Thank you all for the guidance:)
Using a D3, I have 2 small issues:
-For very long distances (over 75 m) the in focus assistant won't show that the lens is focused even though it is set to infinity.
-It isn't too easy to acurately focus from 2m to infinity since there is only about 1 cm of rotation on the barrel of the lens!

Now, I would like to use more ZF and hesitate between 85 and 100 as a walk around lens for general photography and portraiture.
From the distance range on the barrel focusing between 2 and 20 m with 100/2 should be easier than with 50/2.
I own Nikkor 105/2 DC, have already tried ZF 85 and wonder how they compare to 100/2?
Any advice or thoughts?

Cheers,

Can you shoot something like OOF light source with a dark background, christmas tree lighting or some other lights. I would like to see how the bokeh will turn out. When I looked at the image of the glass and candle lights, the OOF flames gave some indication that the lens was possibly not zeiss of leica. The most beautiful ones I have seen are taken with the Noctilux. There are a couple of shots on flickr by zeiss glass that looks really nice too.

Another test is to shoot with leaves and tress as the background, one of the easiest way to sample the type of bokeh, something that aspherical glass do not do so well at.

BTW, the rokkor design is similar to Noctilux.

Ha... ha... Shot outside OG Albert.

I recall seeing those huge "aunty" bras on sale outside the store.

not sure what reaction you intend to elicit from the others here since this is a Zeiss discussion thread...I admit I am a noob in lenses etc so I chose to not say anything mah...:)

I tot Silence is Golden? No? ;p

Some people just like to 'share' with others that they own a better lens than the Carl Zeiss ZF. Therefore, posting their comments here is the right and obvious choice.

I have known long time ago that Minolta makes very good lenses and bodies (and light meters), but their marketing strategies fell behind the big-boys. Eventually acquired by Konica, then Sony, the brand still could not be revitalized. More and more photographers I know are giving up Sony and heading back to the mainstream brands such as Nikon or Canon.

but i understand prices had been dropping steadily...

first batch was selling $4280 (CP, J316), a few days later, price had dropped to $4099 (CP). And now the 2nd shipment pricing is $3980...

Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2

the picture showing the lamps/candles was the only picture that hinted that it was a noct design due to the way the bokeh was rendered at close distances

else the other shots that you have posted, its probably hard to tell what lens was used.

minolta had good optics too though, one of the lenses that almost tempted me was the 135 stf. wonder if you have a copy mounted on a canon to share?

Don't worry, I will get Nikon D700 as soon as Nikon start selling it in Indonesia :D
and I will shoot it with Zeiss lens too hehehehe
(it should me in the middle of this month)
