Some people just like to 'share' with others that they own a better lens than the Carl Zeiss ZF. Therefore, posting their comments here is the right and obvious choice.

I've posted the Rokkor pic here as ZF users have a taste for bokeh and glow. Never did i mention that the Rokkor is superior than ZF or any other brand. Blind test is to bring out objective views.

BTW, I've no royalty to any brand. I use all sorts of lenses from Leica, Zeiss, Voigtlander, Canon, Nikon, Olympus on my Canon body. I use them because they are good (or simply give me an sense of shiok and superior feeling). Even for the body, I'm thinking of getting a Nikon so that I can do away with adapters for the Nikon mount lenses.

minolta had good optics too though, one of the lenses that almost tempted me was the 135 stf. wonder if you have a copy mounted on a canon to share?

No have leh... only got 2 pieces of the 58mm. One has been converted while the other is still in its original piece.

Don't worry, I will get Nikon D700 as soon as Nikon start selling it in Indonesia :D
and I will shoot it with Zeiss lens too hehehehe
(it should me in the middle of this month)

I can picture digitalxd holding 1cam in each hand, shooting D3+ 851.4 on his left side with a model and D700+100f2 right side with another model, all at the same time :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Nikon D80 with ZF 35/2 :p

Hhahahaha, yes! this one is a special model ^^
talking about holding D700 + 85/1.4 and D3 + 100/2 together while shooting a model is a great idea!!
Hm.. hm.... I need to do it ASAP hahahhaa
D700........D700.... >_<
Don't know why Nikon Indonesia is very slow... they don't have Nikon D700 nor SB 900 ready yet

Here some more pictures from Nikon D3 + Zeiss 100/2 + Sb 200 Ring Lite ( i love the 3D looks from ZF 100/2)

this is what I had been toying with...let's quickly meet for kopi, poison each other and then convert to the Dark Side...

Yes. For the shoot, glue both cameras together at the base and u now have a 24MP NIKON - The new D3700 ! Capable of shooting almost 20fps, capture all monkeys, those with tail and those without!

Ahhhhhhhhh...!!!!
I wish i can join the kopi thing. It's should be a lot of fun! racun each others :D

Nikon D3700..? kekekkeke great name! 24 MP, now i can print a lot bigger akakkwkawkwkawkawa
What a crazy day!
:p

ups... double post!
please delete it :)

Thx u

the picture showing the lamps/candles was the only picture that hinted that it was a noct design due to the way the bokeh was rendered at close distances

else the other shots that you have posted, its probably hard to tell what lens was used.

Not sure if it came close, but most f1.2 lenses will render OOF areas in a similar way I suppose. The difference in light bokeh is whether you see it as one full bubble, double visioned bubbles or a full bubble with patterns. I know that we generally see the first pattern with Leica or Zeiss lenses for lenses f2 or faster. Some of the fast japanese brand lenses :bsmilie: of around 85 to 135 exhibit similar characteristics. This is one way in which we can differentiate lenses. Of course it's not to say whether one lens is better than another, just a characteristic that I have come across.

What is the point of comparing? (that's the problem with many Singaporeans; love to compare...) Why not post a Leica image (since you own one) so that we have an even better idea how our ZF lenses fared against it in terms of 'bokeh and glow'?

Frankly, I don't see the point. Let's keep our discussion strictly on Carl Zeiss ZF lenses only. Please....

Back to ZF... I want to BBB the 25F2.8, anyone knows which place has good price and has more than 1 piece to choose? Both J316 & OP only has 1 piece left. TIA!:)

I didn't make any comparison. Simply widen the horizon.

If the intention of this thread is to sing an praise and get resounding feedbacks to justify paying a premium over the zeiss lens and make us feel shiok, then we'll just restrict this to zf lens discussion. We will all live in our own well of zeiss.

I think it is ok to sometimes divert a little and see how other lenses behave. Only then do we know and understand how the different lenses behaves and what are the attribute that we like about a lens or brand. This may even wake us up that we should not be blindly after the zeiss or whatever brand name.

but i understand prices had been dropping steadily...
first batch was selling $4280 (CP, J316), a few days later, price had dropped to $4099 (CP). And now the 2nd shipment pricing is $3980...

Maybe we should gang up on one dealer and squeeze some from him ? Hearing the prices in Japan haven't settle down hence unable to bring in parallel imports with local warranty.

Har? Isn't posting a Leica image comparing? And if we don't compare, how do we make an assesment? Making comparisions is part and parcel of life for people all over the world, not a Singaporean thing.

Also, lay off KH wil you all? He has a good lens to show, it might not be Zeiss, but if you have opinions of the image quality vs Zeiss, then post it. The opinions are still Zeiss relevant.

I imagine 10years later, ZF could be extinct. Nikon's 3rd generation nano-coated aspherical, super-ED G-primes will kick our Zeiss's backside and we will be nursing cold beers, holding on to our manual focus ZFs out of sentimental value.

And maybe, just maybe, we could pop into Nikon's forum and say, " Look, we are no longer the sharpest. But check out our Zeiss colours, the 3-D, the bokeh " And shoot away happily on our ZFs, content that ZFs can give something other lens can't.

Isn't what weekh's pics were about ? Sentimental lens with unique characteristics, not easily found in today's lenses ?

Comments on glow and bokeh, love it-hate it. Personally, I didn't see any comparison. Juz good photography

Maybe.... Just maybe, World War III breakout, and our cameras, ZF lenses and..... Rokkor lenses will be melted down as alloy to make weapons and war machines.

Or, maybe... Just maybe, I will contact dengue fever tomorrow and suffer a horrible death few days later. My wife would sell all my cameras and ZF lenses to the neighbourhood 'Garang guni man' for a miserable sum of $5.00.

That's sentimental for all of us.
