the camera is indeed critical.

digloyd tested ZF from 1dmkII, to 1dsMKIII, to D3. and all the cameras gave different colour accuracy and transition. At the pro level, its not just about saturation.

Zeiss has been on a rampage in the past 2years, bringing the rangefinder lineup to ZM and the Contax Zeisses to ZF. I think they've already said 21, 45 ( tessar ) and others on the way. There's no clause that says ZF and Cosina can't introduce same lenses side by side.

by the way, in 2006, Nikon announced they will stop producing Manual Nikkors henceforth with the exception of Nikkor 20mm f/2.8; Nikkor24mm f/2.8; Nikkor 28mm f/2.8; Nikkor 35mm f/1.4; Nikkor 50mm f/1.2; Nikkor 50mm f/1.4; Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8; Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8; and the PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D.

at the same time in 2006, Zeiss announces the ZF mount. From 3 lenses, it is now 8. There's un-announced collaboration behind the scenes.

choose your poison carefully. there's no lack of choice going forward.

Good news for all ZF users - be it for Nikon or Canon.

I already chose my poison and am 'suffering' from it. ;)

thanks for the info bro...maybe its time for me to switch system to Nikon... :)

dun need to, rite? i thot weekh uses contax zeiss (with adapter) on his canons? :dunno:

probably u can do the same with the ZF.

actually, the "action" is even hotter in the rangefinder M mount space. Zeiss and Voigt have over 30 M-mount lenses. Add that to Leicas and about 50plus "prime" lenses in a common mount.

And Nikon about to introduce a full frame digital M-mount rangefinder. Cos its the 60th anniversary of the Nikon S.

Imagine. The imaging power of D3 sitting literally in the palm of your hand. Trully toxic poison. No antidote for this.

HI Coolsig and Photobum
It's ok to use my photo ^^
the photo that i took using voigtlander 58/1.4 is original. I did not use any PS on it.
Voigtlander Nokton 58/1.4 is very sharp even at wideopen.
here is another example from Nokton 58/1.4 + nikon D3

I think the lens quality of Zf lenses and Voigtlander Nokton are almost the same. After using both lenses for a while, I can say that the BOKEH from ZF and VOigtlander is very different.
ZF lenses has smoother bokeh. However, the bokeh from Voigtlander Nokton is very interesting, I like it as well :)

anoter example fron Zeiss 85/1.4 ( I added soft filter a bit on this picture)

IMHO, U can't go wrong with voigtlander Nokton 58/1.4

bro, yes, I am using Nikon-to-EOS adaptor now. But with every ZF I buy, I buy one adaptor. The costs do add up as I now have 4 CZ. Was thinking it's more economical if I buy a Nikon D300 body just for the ZFs as prices had been dropping like crazy and I do get better focus confirmation etc in body.

I'm in the same shoes, Coolsigg. Full frame D700 announcing tom! Yeh

Hi all,

just came back from shopping with germany's new issue of "ProfiFoto". They have a two-side presentation of D700 and SB900 (delayed the issue for five days to be first with the data). Here are the facts:

D700: D3-Sensor, AF-Module but no phone/speaker, only 95% viewer, 200-6400ISO, 5FPS (8 with MB-D10), pop-up-flash (power 11), dust-removal on sensor, EN-EL3e, 1076g, fsync 1/250, 1/8000-30s, one CF-Slot, grid in viewer optional, virtual horizon, little less fast to D3. Compatible to WT-4.

SB900: 17-200mm (14mm) on FX. Reacts on DX/FX-effective focal length. Three illumination modes: standard, even, midconcentrated. Firmwareupdate via camera-CF. Overheat-deactivation. Reads and communicates gels to camera for WB. Handling by central turning wheel

I love to see SB 900 :)
I'm gonna get it for sure!!

Thinking of comparing the ZF100 this with the Voigtlander 125.
And maybe the Leica ASPH 90 and 85L....

Anyone know of any available review? Then I can save the trouble to do the testing.

Fantastic shots you have there, especially the last one:thumbsup:

based on price rumours, D700 expected pricing is abt SGD 4600 ( converted from Yen ). currently, the base price of D300 and D3 is 2100SGD and 5800SGD in japan. so right in the middle between both. And when the EOS 5D II comes out later in the year, Nikon has room to cut D700 to SGD 4000. And of course if 5DMkII comes out 16MP at September's Photokina, we could see a 16mp D700x announced by end of the year! Wow. The price war just got started in full frame.
