Hi All...!!
I'm a new member here (From Indonesia)
I'm a big fans of Zeiss and Voigtlander lens too!
i want to join this discussion and learn a lot more about Zeiss and voigtlander lens.
Currently I only own Zeiss 25mm F2.8 and Zeiss 85mm F1.4
I'm planning to buy Zeiss 100mm F2 macro and Zeiss 35mm F2 next month. I really need to save my money for these 2 lens
here is a quick dirty test of my brand new Zeiss 85mm F1.4 @ F2


I really love the "3D" look of this picture. (btw, i already sold my Nikon 85mm F1.4 Af-D)

What did you use for focus confirmation?

Hi Parchiao!
I only follow the "DOT" sign on my D3 viewfinder.
Once the DOT come out! i will hit my shutter buttom

quite accurate if you are patient, and is focussing on a spot with a good contrast. else a focussing screen is better.

i had quite some miscues on the 85/1.4 with the green dot, but no miscues for the 50/1.4mm

the CA for the 85mm is quite controlled, the 50mm has the typical wide aperture CA which is apparent in very well lit scenarios

The MTF shows CA of zeiss 50mm F1.4 is really high... compare to Voigtlander 40mm SL II and Voigtlander 58mm F1.4 SL II. Because of this reason i decided to buy voigtlander 40 and 58mm.
However, I still cannot accept the fact that CA of zeiss 50mm F1.4 is that bad. Any comments on this?
I really want to collect all Zeiss Planar T lens

i've one

the CA for the 50mm F1.4 at F1.4, take at iso 100, shutter speed 1/8000, is very apparent, you get purple fringing etc. when stopped down it goes away.

normally i use this lens for lower lighting use, food photog, portraits etc, at f1.4 indoors its really good. under these conditions, often or not the CA doesnt bother me at all, most of the time it goes unnoticed, or perhaps doesnt show up in the picture

Right now I'm saving my money to buy Zeiss 100mm F2 macro
Anyway, i guess I'm gonna buy this lens too ^^

BTW, yesterday I played a bit with my Zeiss 25mm F2.8, this lens is amazing... it has a focus ability with Min distance of 6 cm...!! Therefore i can take macro-wide angle on the same time!!
I was really amazed with this lens
here is an example of Macro-WIde shot taken with this lens

Nikon D3 + Zeiss 25mm F2.8 ( around 6-7cm between the flower and the lens!!!)

can't help but overhearing.. hmm Zeiss 50mm f1.4 is really an excellent lens. I shoot on full manual on the Canon 40D on many occasions. One such example would be http://forums.clubsnap.com/showthread.php?t=348268 last pic, the bokeh, sharpness is something not found on other brands, at least IMHO. It's one of my fav lens well worth it. Btw it's not overblown, I tweaked the settings for a white fashionlike effect.

I finally got my Zeiss 50mm F2 Macro
So far my collection are Zeiss 25mm F2.8/ 35mm F2/ 50mm F2 Macro and 85mm F1.4.
Hopefully by the end of this month I will get my 100mm F2 macro
Can't wait to get it
