May I ask if there is a pricelist for Zeiss lenses, particularly ZF mount?

Made the wrong move of venturing into this thread and now I am contemplating replacing my Nikon AF 85/1.4D with the Zeiss 85/1.4 but I am wondering if it is worth the sacrifice of autofocus and controlling of aperture via dial. I am not really into event photography and shoot mostly landscape, travel and portrait. Also, will there be a lens wider than the current 25/2.8? May want to replace my other lenses (20/2.8, 50/1.4) if I am addicted :p

Will a combination of 25/2.8, 50/2 makro, 85/1.4 be a versatile setup? Particuarly for the above mentioned type of photography.

On both 85mm, the zeiss min focus at 1m whereas the Nikon min at 0.85m, for a headshot there can be abit of a difference on coverage. BTW the Zeiss 25mm/f2.8 is just remarkable, i just bought mine over the weekend from Lord's camera.

How much did you buy it for? I am thinking of getting the Zeiss 85/1.4 because of its great colour and heard that it is priced closely to the Nikon 85/1.4D.

To add on to that.. my personal views:
Nikon AFD 24mm vs Zeiss ZF 25mm____________________I will choose Zeiss ZF 25mm
Nikon AFS 60mm macro (new) vs Zeiss ZF 50mm makro___tough choice, still considering but for now Zeiss ZF 50mm makro wins
Nikon AFD 85mm vs Zeiss ZF 85mm____________________tough choice too but I already have Nikon AFD 85mm. should I get Zeiss too?
Nikon AFS 105mm macro vs Zeiss ZF 100mm makro_______for 1:1, choose Nikon, if dont mind no 1:1, choose Zeiss. I will choose Zeiss

Ha, ha... In this case, I will choose the 58mm f1.2 NOCT over the 55mm f1.2. Anyway, I already own the NOCT, so no need to choose for me. ;)

However, even when I compared the Zeiss Makro-Planar 50mm f2 ZF to the NOCT, I still prefer the images taken with Zeiss, even though the NOCT has an edge in distort control at it widest aperture (which is irrelevant when using on a camera with 1.5X crop). To me, good color reproduction is more important in this digital era.

Nikon AFS 60mm macro (new) vs Zeiss ZF 50mm makro___tough

In my opinion, the old 60mm Micro AFD is better than the newer 60mm Micro AFS. I have the old one which I tested against the newer version which belongs to a store. The images from the 60mm AFD have better contrast, colors and distortion control (yes, the older lens has virtually no distortion which is great for photographing flat objects such as my stamp and coin collections). The AFS perform better in AF speed and sharpness at its widest aperture. Overall sharpness is on-par.

PS: for those of you who use an extension bellow PB-6 for specific purposes (like photographing closeup details of stamps and coins), the newer 60mm AFS won't work with PB-6.

58mm f1.2 NOCT is so difficult to find. Furthermore, it is overpriced.
In term of performance, Nikon 58mm f1.2 NOCT is better than Nikon 55mm f1.2.:)

what is your view of AFD 60mm macro vs ZF 50/2 makro?

They are different class altogether. The Zeiss has better colors, contrast and pleasing sharpness (which can be used for portraitures too). The 60mm Micro AFD has slightly better distortion control, but the overall edge sharpness exempt it from being a good portrait lens.

One more thing.

Carl Zeiss 50mm f2 ZF Makro has 9 aperture blades compared to Nikon 60mm Micro AFD which has 7 aperture blades.
You know the rest of the story....;)

the widest ZF so far is 25mm. Hope it comes out a 21mm soon! fyi, in contax world, zeiss 21mm is a gem! i also have the Zeiss ZM (not ZF) 21mm for M-mount rangefinder.

I am planning for a Zeiss ZF 50/2 makro soon.

bro, how much is the 50F2 Makro selling at the shops? :)

No, I don't own it. The lens belongs to work.

By the way, I believe there are enough good photos from this lens here (in this forum) and elsewhere to illustrate its performance. If you are interested, drop by my workplace and I will let you try it there. Just bring your camera and other lenses you want to compare.
