Just set to Aperture Pirority and u should be safe.
For me, if condition allow, I prefer to take exposure reading first before using manual mode.

wow..

u woke up so early??

Getting crazy over the ziess lenses... just got myself another zeiss: 25mm distagon! Heard from richoflex that this a better lens than the 28mm. Will see for myself when it arrives.

Meanwhile, will need more adapters. The DSLRx adapters will be available again from next week. So will be conducting another MO again. Those of u who want to order the adapter can place your name in the DSLRx MO3 thread

Wow! Another Zeiss lens. Can't wait to see your pictures taken by the Zeiss 25mm...
May be you might want to do a comparison between the 28mm and 25mm and see which one is sharper.

weekh, you got the 25mm Distagon f2.8 WEST GERMANY !!! :)
Like mine.
The rest better buy because no more soon from Tithes.
Money cannot buy.
Because no more West Germany.
With Kyocera give up Contax don't when when they will make again 25mm again in Germany. Nowadays all made in Japan.

Like I told WeeKH a blind man can tell the 25mm Contax West Germany from the Made in Japan version.
Hold one on left hand and the other on right hand.
Close your eyes.
Feel the weight of the metal and the glass inside.

Did a series of test between the 17-40L and the CZ 35-70 at 35mm.
Have done in different settings and this is the typical results of my finds:

The Glow of the Zeiss Glasses is very obvious!!! (All shots are done at Manual mode! Not due to exposure difference!)

CZ:

EF:

And here's the resolution test at the corner:

The CZ has an edge over the EF.

The EF picture looks like there was a bit of handshake though.. Using a tripod + remote?

haha tis week really got nothing to do.....haiz ord, no job, no honey, no money, nobody loves me!!!

Anyway, i was feeling rather bored just now so decided to take some rubbish shoots haha

The roses are taken with D60, CZ 45mm tessar F2.8 with B+W 49 ES KB3 1.2x (any one have any idea abt this filter and what is it suppose to do? Had it on since the day I bought the lens but dunnoe what the hell is it?) and hoya +4 filter

The purpose of using a autofocus camera body is to make full use of its advance
features. If a cz lens is attach, this defeats its purpose. And for actions shots like modeling or moving subject it is total impossible to manual focus. After all the difference you show in the pics are minimal. And only when enlarge to full resolution on the monitor you can spot the difference. But if printed on 4R or 6R. There is no difference so why go through all the trouble???

Agree that the manual CZ lens is not suitable for everyone. That's why I sold the CZ 50 f1.4 and keep the EF 50mm.

But for wa lenses, zone focus is much easier. Talk to all those photojournalists who still prefers to use the all manul rangefinder systems! Zone focus will work faster than you auto focus lens!

Also, under certain condition, manual focus is preferred and works better as it will not haunt. U'll miss the shot with AF cos it keeps haunting.

As for the color, the glow of the CZ lens is indeed there! Be is small size or large size, u can spot the glow easily when u compare the pictures side byh side.

And finally, the CZ lenses are also cheaper than the EF counterpart.

As I've mentioned earlier, I've done a series of tests.
I can't be showing all the test samples there. What u see here is a good representative of my findings.

if you're thinking in this way than i sorry to say you that you might not have yet fully understand your cam and its limits. Have you tried using AF to shoot macro of insects like butterflies with AF, lens distance abt 3cm away from the subject? Have you tried taking pics in really low light situations? Have you really took shots like modelling with manual focus? Have you been in the situation where your cam's AF fails you? I've been in these situation b4 and I clearly understand the need for manual focusing when needed and yes, manual fousing may be slow and not as accurate as AF but there are times where AF might be even slower than MF. It is possible for one to take action and modelling shoots if that person know the how to and limits of his equipments. Reason why pple uses CZ lens veries from person to person. Some like it, some don't. For me, its the color, sharpness at wide open, bokeh which the lens is capable of producing without the need of much touching up. I for one, is a very lazy person, sometimes, I am so lazy that I just dump my pictures taken on my harddisk and do nothing abt it for months. I dun like to do post processing, cropping and etc to my pics, perfer them as they are in the original form. Someone once told me this, if you take a "lousy" picture and tried to post process it, there is only so much to the limit that you can do as the original source is "lousy".

PS: BTW, MF focusing is easy, provided that you have the right tools with you like say a split-screen with micro prism focusing screen if not most of the time you will be only agar agar :bsmilie:

B+W KB 3 [82C]
Red tones, which are in the middle color temperature range, are eliminated with the KB3.This filter corrects the frequent tendency toward reddish tones when using 500 Watt flood lights with tungsten film. The KB3 is also necessary when using older nitrate photo lamps. Filter factor is approx. 1.2.

Nowadays prefer to shoot with CZ rather than EF. Simply loved the CZ glow. Need no PS touch up.

Next thing I want to try will be using the Leica R lenses on the EOS. Gotto mortgage my house soon...

The glow effect you get frm CZ and lecia lens can be emulated by using one of the filters from nik multimedia effex pro 2 filters on photoshop using EF lens. Try it yourself sometimes...

I get similar glow effects using these filters CZ jena lens and my schenider 80
2.8 xenotar lens on my EOS as well....

Got software to emulate the bokeh?
So far I still can't get my EF 50 f1.4 to duplicate this kind of bokeh:
