Why not do a comparison between Canon EF28/2.8 and Contax 28/2.8 on 20D? :)

Can u lend me the ef 28 f2.8 ?

Anyway will be doing a direct test of the CZ 50mm f1.4 against the EF 50 f1.4 once i got the CZ lens.

The CZ 28mm is indeed yummy good! Can't wait to try the CZ 50mm f1.4 next week...

I have used Canon FD, EF and Contax for decades.

Do try out this lens.
Carl Zeiss 25mm F2.8 West Germany.
Among Contax users, this is one of the cream.
A killer lens is the Carl Zeiss 100mm F2 West Germany. :p

It is not about sharpness. Most brands can give you sharpness.
It is the 3 dimensionality of the picture and beauty of the tone when you look at portraits.

As mentioned eaqrlier, no post processing was required to enchance the color... Image was shot at WB 5500k. The colour looks great straight out from the file on my calibrated screen!

hmm ok but did u apply any sharpening to them?

anyway i agree the images have a lot of "pop" to them!

You couldn't compare Biometar with Planar from W.Germany. The resolution is no way near the latter, but perhaps you get slightly better contrast. anyway its just a fraction of the cost of Planar. To use on the m42 is bulkiest to be reckon since its meant for pentacon-6 MF camera (doesn't mean MF lens is better than 35mmLens!). Beware of the coating, its hyper-sensitive, one wipe will cause coating damage/scratch, since the coating is very soft to my own experience. i like its color reproduction. I got this lens since 1995 from fotographics but use my pancolar instead most of the time. - weight & quality issue. Just two cents thought here.

Sharpened the pictures a little:
Unsharp Mask 170%
Radius 0.5 pixels

I find that although shooting with the CZ28mm on the EOS !Ds body doesn't give me AF, it doesn't really hinder my shoot. In fact is is more like shooting with an M6 on steriod giving me 3 fps. I would delibrately meter the scene first and then concentrate on the composition and focusing.
As u know that shooting kids has to be pretty fast, the number of keepers that I had shows that u still can still continue to work fast without AF.

Using the Canon focusing screen with a manual focus tele lens can be a little frustrating....

I've just solved that prob recently :bsmilie: but too lazy to post the pics coz very busy and very tired.....Just change the focusing screen of the default canon one to a spilt screen type and result is rather gd

Whats is source of the streaks of light from the right, in first shot of post #52?
The pictures you took did has the contrast most japanese make lack, and you are careful about the composition as well! I feel like smiling looking at the baby.

Late evening light coming through /reflected / refracted from those window planes....

Keep the photos coming Weekh, hey doesn't your adapter get worn out since you're going to be changing the lens around so much?

I'm curious, is it an M42 to EOS mount convertor and are you able to get decent ap. priority and metering through it?

The Zeiss has been on my cam most of the time.

Never cared about adapter being worn out.... hey.. these adapter are metals sia! U need some kind of machine to wear it out!

I cared more about my cam though... but the scratch is so light that I doubt it will cause any damage.

And if u worry that the electronic pins get worn out... well I think the cam gets obselete first looong b4 this happens...

You are using film for the above shot, right? Sometimes there's no better shot than those that meant alot to you......

kh,
to my eye, you have some really outstanding shots there, the hawker centre B&W is luscious! This is the type of photography I like best, up close and personal. Congratulations on your lens and your wonderful family.

Those pictures are really great!

I've got a Contax Zeiss T* mount 28 f/2.8, 45mm f/2.8 and 90mm f/2.8 that I really want to try on my Nikon D70.

My search for the required adapter has been fruitless. :( .

Dude, I saw that you mentioned that you have a Bigon 28 f2.8, and you do mention about the 90mm f2.8 here. I get the impression that you are referring to the G mount lenses. The lenses that are at discussion are the C/Y mount lenses. I don't believe that there is a 90mm from Contax in C/Y mount, from Tamron yes. Is my observation correct?
