No problem, I had some time at BG. I would not say lessons. Just some pointers.

Here is a pretty rare orchid to be found grown in Singapore, as it need very cool temperature to grow. This particular plant belongs to Gardens by the Bay.

Taken with the Nex-5N + Touit 32mm @ f/13 iso100 1/200

Nice! what temp require?

sdchew, may i buy you a drink to "hear" about your experience in greater detail please? i'm keen to hear....

Oh man. Wish I had the time to catch up but my evenings are typically bad... What would you like to know?

Tikiman, as much as I would love Touit, I've settled for SEL35/1.8 OSS as the focusing a wee bit suitable to chase after my kids!

Sdchew, anything on Nex camera and lens, especially your experience on shooting your kids! I seem to get low percentage of sharp focus pics of my kids.

:) like i said during our meetup. when deciding between lenses, choose the one that suit your main needs.

Some pointers;

Use manual mode and set the shutter to at least 1/100 and the aperture you want. Make sure you shoot in RAW. That way if your shot is slightly over or underexposed, it's easily correctable in post. Do note that I'm using a NEX-7 so it might be easier for me to switch settings compared to the other NEX cameras.

Keep in mind with a larger aperture your DOF is more shallow so you need to note exactly what you are focusing on. Thus turn on focus peeking.

Register your kid's face with the camera so it will prioritize focus on the face.

Set your camera to shoot continuously. Often unexpected movement can really throw off your focus. This increases your odds to get a nice keeper...

dftan, you just need to understand the basics of shooting moving subjects. Read up on "shutter speed" and "depth of field" and understand their major uses. I guarantee you that if you understand fully these functions you will be able to shoot moving targets with better results.

Take a look at most of my bird shots taken with manual focus lenses. Most were shot with shutter speed of 1/500 and above.

I think my main concern with the touit 32 is not its price (reasonable) or sharpness but whether or not it has the "Zeiss look" and some people report that the touit doesn't have the Zeiss look. For the same price, I can buy a Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2, and an adapter. Manual focus, but focus peaking works so well on the NEX. Here is a Zeiss ZM 35/2 shot attached to a NEX 5N, which, to me, has a similar look to the E-mount 24mm/1.8

Well, Zeiss is changing look, starting from the touit. Thats why it doesn't have the (old) Zeiss look. Lol

You never know until you try and test it. imo, reviews must be taken with a pinch of salt.

One of my newer work with the Nex6 + Touit 32mm @ Gardens by the Bay with the help of a white board, very bright sun and a fill in flash.
