thx for the comments everyone

spectrum got it right. it's actually a hook screwed into the wall. this was shot with a flashlight for lighting that made a circular light ring around the hook. by inverting the image, the "hole" appeared behind the hook. next i swapped the colours in PS and ended up with a skin-coloured hook and bg which seems to resemble some part of the anatomy. (e.g. an ear, or a bent finger). i called it photographic freakism because i wanted to explore how a juxtaposition of textures on everyday objects would make the viewer uneasy. something along the lines of the "fur-lined teacup". an artistic tendency towards surrealism i think? (need Azhou to confirm this).

mmm surrealism ah... me cannot confirm hor, try to ask stereobox. We still not agree on what surrealism is T____T my idea of surrealism only 'something beyond realism' and I think he has a bigger picture about it. I'm not really into it so not really sure ( perhaps his idea more appriorate since he actually studied about it and I just have a glance of it )
*now that few people can imagine, how boring dating AngelZhou could be if she keep on nitpick whenever you start to talk about art or psychology - not to forget the usual school-is-suck speech*

I think Zaren is cute in some way. I mean... the way you interpret everything. So Zaren. ( I know sounds wrong lah but I couldnt find a better way to put it )

i think the bird looks too small when compare with the street light...

nice catch! i personally feel that the picture would be fantastic if there was no streetlamp in it... just a lot of blue blue sky and the little bird somehwere at the top of the frame~ hehe just an idea, other than that... its a very very good shot!

thx nate, that's a good suggestion! somehow i like the inclusion of the streetlamp here, i guess to me it leads the viewer from the ground up to the lamp, which is the launching pad for the bird to take off.
