i really like how zaren see usual everyday stuff in a very unique way. Sometimes freaky, sometimes make me asking myself, most of the time make me go o_0

just trying to broaden my photographic vision mah....so that's why all subjects are fair game, freaky or not! :bsmilie:

Hmmmmm can you please tell me.... how you shoot so well huh? so many power shots!!! ARGH!!!!!! :bsmilie: Joking.
but your shots are really very much desirable to be able to snap too Zaren:thumbsup:

ah that's interesting, how u interpreted it

i thought the abstraction was a bit tenuous for the hammer and sickle, but hey, stereobox has got a keen abstract mind. :)

hmm....that gives me an idea....why don't we all shoot abstractions of each other's avatar? could be quite fun! ;p

thx chris... i guess for me it's really gradually putting into practice what i have read so much about photography over the years, and trying to visualise whether the photo presents a new way or an artistic way of looking at things. one of the goals of APAD for me was to simplify the image as much as possible. be as minimalistic as possible. (AngelZhou will tell me it's post-minimalism, i'm sure!) at the end of the day, you should be your own harshest critic. don't be afraid to trash most of your shots in pursuit of one that you will like to hang on your living room wall as art. and in pursuing your art with dogged persistence, your shooting will definitely improve. :)

i see a strong focus and development of personal 'style' that is recognisably 'Zaren'. that comes from someone who's consistently striving to push his/her personal boundaries further!

YES SIR!
=) i guess it alot about developing the eye to see as well as the mental imagery of how the photo should turn out to the desired outcome? =)

nice composition and color...but the two ball there a bit distracting...;p
btw...how u make the sea become so 'black'...?u use ND filter? or PS?

yup, it's post minimalism! XD

Zaren already knew me. I always make such a big fuzz of usage of 'art genre' actually. I just feel that those art people ( be it artist, art critic, etc ) they go through a long way to introduce their style. I find it a bit unfair to just anyhow use.
It's not like doing lousy out of focus picture and call it abstract! Or accidentaly distorting the perspective and to called it Surrealism. I know most people here mature enough not to use art genre to cover up flaw however yes, i kinda nitpick on it =p

And zaren, I really enjoy your work! My favourite, still, is the human abstract picture.

a wild imagination is a precursor to great art. :)

yes, you got it! a lot is learning to see the light as well. as a famous nat geo photog once said, what is lacking in many photos is a sense of light.

thx choo, for me the two balls help to draw attention to the boat. i made the sea "black" by using PS. :)
