With the great price, I'm really tempted to buy also, I hope they will release a body-alone package soon. Need to find a younger bro for my 7D. :bsmilie:
If you can find anyonw who is willing to share the cost of the lens.....some shops willing to part the lens from body and sell separate....

BTW today i had a course - and its a pleasure to conduct a course where student using a 5D!!!!!! maybe the first of such in Singapore.....hahaha....

WHo knows....i will end up buying one.......for travels...

I find that the 18-70 hunts easily under shade with my 7D.

THe 18-70..

From my tasteing sessions for the last two days....my verdist is that- this lens build wise is very similar to my 35-80 which came as a kit lens to my 404si.

Construction wise and feel too. Weight is also light. However, this lens is very capable - and the images out from this lens....is not bad.....Come on guys - KIT LENS!!!!!

Optics wise - hey - its a steal. I have been forcing myself to be gentle with older lens - consumer grade ones (kit types) and concentrating on optics output....- they are worth the money...

Actually i don't mind paying say $200~$300 for the lens...

The lens have a good 38cm closest focus distance....a good comfortable range for use as a macro for flower lens......

Yah same here. The 5.6 aperture at 70mm is too small for the camera to focus under shade/indoors.

My thoughts of the camera .. Best in the world .. for under $2k

Guys, care to tell the rest of us, the shooting performance of the 5D? Any detectable shutter lag? How's the continuous shooting ......good?;p

Actually that is not always true... my Tamron 25-135 focuses very well in the shade even at f/8... it's the quality of the glass...

Huh? Doesn't the lens focus with the aperture wide open? How can it be f8?

Paiseh... :embrass: u're right... what I wanted to say is that the focussing speed of the lens is also highly dependent on the quality of the glass...
