i cant remember when i last used my credit card ... :bsmilie:

At which age did you own your first credit card? I see many teenagers having so many credit cards in their wallets. What do you think about it. I myself, do not own a credit card.

There's a subtle yet significant difference between owning a credit card and BEING OWNED by credit cards. Quite hard to tell these days :bsmilie:

a credit card is a double edged sword

wield it wisely or you might end up getting cut badly

once you dig a hole using credit, it will only get deeper and deeper

I'm 16 and i have an POSB ATM card. No credit card though, i'm curious how people in the 1st category, can pay their bills, unless they're born into rich families..

Govt/Military scholars can still be 18 when they sign on and enter university. Several of my friends were still 18 in our first year and our student accounts came with credit cards. I didn't even request for it and was given one Visa and one Mastercard. They had crappy £500 limits but hey, it's more than what I should be spending in a month so I kept it as it was as a form of control. In fact, even after starting work I didn't ask for limit increases for a long time, as a form of control. It was only when I started travelling for long periods for work that I had no choice but to raise the limits.

My simple rule for using credit cards - use them only for convenience and never, ever, for credit. i.e. pay in full every month, no rolling balances.

And I keep just two cards - one as a backup in case one fails for some reason (chip damaged, over-zealous security, etc).
