Thanks guys for all the responses and info. Actually I quite like AP, and I got ok services most time. I know Peter and Sam, these two guys are quite nice. Usually I go directly to one of these two and ask for what I want, never bother with other salesmen there

I might just order the lens from them I guess. It's about S$70 difference between their price and CP's (7% cheaper for the lens I'm looking at).

I bought my D2H and a Panasonic video cam from AP at Funan.
The service I received was good as well as their pricing.
Though have to wait for a while as the shop is usually packed.

yes, don't know how true, but i have heard of AP selling both local warranty and grey sets (with different prices :thumbsup

but just make sure that you're comparing like-for-like, and buy which ever suites your preference (local warranted or grey).

I wonder why a lot here are saying how good AP is. Is it the Sim Lim or Funan one? I've had bad experiences with them since my earlier days with the camera...
Recently I wanted to get a MBD100 and the Sim Lim branch was the only one having it(CP, John 3:16 all no stock). A young fella quoted me $360. I was in a rush and there were many sets left. Came back 2 days later and the same fella quoted me $370! after GST. $360 after GST don't make $370! No bargaining... even gave me a lecture about how people are selling sets without warranty.
Also, I was not really served even though there were a few guys free. Even when I approached the counter with my finger pointing to a lens, they just ignored me. But bloody mat salleh... like auto man! They've not changed since the last time I had an encounter with them. Wanted to get an F5, and they could only say that it was expensive, and with the thought that I couldn't afford it! Gave me a crazy quote. Went to another shop, bought the camera with the 80-200 lens and went back to the shop. The same fella asked me whether I was interested with an FM2...cheaper he said! Told him his set was expensive and that I could get it for much lesser. He challenged me, said that he would give me money to buy 10 sets and laughed. I took out my stuff and showed him what I bought and he gave me that look. He said things like no warranty, accesories taken away... trick of those years! I then challenged him to go with me to the shop with his allegations and get the 10 sets he challenged me to order. That's when he started getting a bit annoyed, only to be reminded by his boss thta there were customers around.
So, after all these years, they have not changed. Maybe the personnel different!
May be I am being long winded! I am not representing any shop. I buy my stuff from all, depending on where I go to and how nice the sales people are! Even different guys at CP quote me different prices for the same stuff. But AP, will bever buy a cosina uv filter or even a lens cap from them!
Of course its just my personal take! Free country right!

anyway, each shop has it's own good and bad salesman

my regular salesman at AP treats me very good and gives me very good prices.
an eg which many people refuse to believe, is the 3rd party BP-511 which i got from AP at $18 each. while eastgear sells for $30

Thats the thing! So $360 cannot be the price before GST right?
Let me clarify thta its not about bad shops, but bad sales people! I am not a supporter of any shop... just a buyer of the good stuff when I can have them! Otherwise, second hand also can!

Quite true, its all depend on the sale person only...depend on luck too....got good * bad service from AP / CP & MS color.

But CP is my 1st choice.
