£25 million with additional up to £29 million ... "

After moving to Germany from the Brazilian second tier club Figueirense, Firmino has spent the past four-and-a-half years in the Bundesliga, scoring 35 goals in 140 appearances, including seven league goals last season as Hoffenheim finished eighth."

Ratio of 1 goal in 4 games, equate to around 10 goals for 40 games in a season. That's a attacking Midfield range not a striker's expected returns of 20-30 goals per season. This means that he is not a proven striker... :(

been a long time.

seems like firminho's deal is all but done.

we need a new anchorman!

Firmino is a midfielder and not a proven striker..

If we are chasing Bacca (preferably) or Rondon, that would be the "20-30 goals a season" strikers...

Quickly sell that stir for 50mill pound and spend it on a striker !!!!

Is tat all we can get? Becca or Rondon?? Haha

We had the best, Luis Suarez, and he did not want to stay. There were those who did not want to come too.

I wonder about the other players linked to us, Illarramendi, Clyne and Kovacic.

LFC matching the asking price for Clyne Liao hope it gets thru !! So now left a striker and some one that can match Gerrard ...

Tot d purpose to buy Firmino was also to cover for Gerard? He's quite prolific for an attacking midfielder.

Liverpool complete Firmino signing

Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player's participation in Copa America 2015 for Brazil.

The 23-year-old has agreed a long-term contract with the club.

Firmino will arrive at Anfield following four-and-a-half seasons in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

The forward made 151 appearances in league and cup for the German club, netting 47 goals, after joining them from Figueirense in December 2010.

To date, Firmino has nine caps and four goals for Brazil - including what proved to be the winner in his country's 2-1 victory over Venezuela in the Copa America on Sunday.

Two Brazilians working together in midfield, both with strong attacking intent... that's not a bad combo IMO.

We still need a out and out prolific striker...

two smart and good mid-fielders…. now where is the good striker to complement the whole idea???

With attacking almost done, need to beef up the defend, especially midnolet….

Liverpool have agreed a £12.5m deal for the Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne, who is set to become the club's sixth signing of the summer. Clyne, who has been capped five times by England, will now undergo a medical at Liverpool and finalise his personal terms.

The 24-year-old has given Southampton little encouragement that he will extend his contract with them and, although the south coast club had hoped for a fee of £15m for him, they have settled on a little less, with £2m of the money to be dependent on appearances. They had rejected Liverpool's opening offer of £10m. Clyne's deal with Southampton is set to expire next summer.

Clyne will follow three former Saints to Anfield - Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert moved there from St Mary's last summer - and he hopes to kick on after his fine season last time out, which brought him recognition at international level.

Clyne's sale has looked likely for several weeks and Southampton have put contingencies in place. They have signed Cédric Soares from Sporting Lisbon for an initial £3.6m while they have explored the possibility of taking Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal.
