Bad News...

The race to sign Ajax star Christian Eriksen has taken an unexpected turn, with the news that the 21-year-old has reached an agreement with AC Milan on a four-year contract.

Eriksen is open to a move this summer, with his contract at the Amsterdam ArenA expiring in 2014. However, the midfielder is determined not to leave for just any club, having recently knocked back an approach from Bayer Leverkusen.

He has been strongly linked with Liverpool, although when questioned recently about interest from the Reds said he had nothing concrete to report.

Now it appears his future could lie with the Rossoneri.

According to Danish daily Ekstra Bladet, Eriksen has agreed terms on a contract which would run for four years with the Italian giants. However, Milan have not yet thrashed out a fee with Ajax.

And that may not be entirely straightforward.

Ajax are thought to want around the £16m mark for Eriksen, who has removed the threat of leaving on a free transfer by saying he will sign a new contract with the club if he is still at the Amsterdam ArenA after the transfer window closes.

Milan now need to raise the funds for an approach, with offloading Kevin Prince-Boateng a real possibility.

dun think its bad.

if he's really that good, we would've moved in for him.

Sounds like we should be prepared NOT to have any new players join us... we are failing to hit all the targets.
Should thank our lucky stars that we have already brought in 4 more-than-decent signings!
Looking forward to the start of the season - YNWA!!!

There should be at least 1 or 2 players i feel will join Liverpool. But how established or well known players we don't know yet. No champion league or Europa is hard to attracted players to join us anyway. :)

Suarez worth as much as Cavani, says Liverpool boss Rodgers

PSG spent 55 million pounds to bring the Serie A's top goalscorer from Napoli to the French capital, and the Anfield boss insists Suarez would cost as much if the club is to sell.

Brendan Rodgers remains adamant that Liverpool will hang onto Luis Suarez this summer, and says any bid for the 26-year-old would have to be in the range of what it took Paris Saint-Germain to land Suarez's fellow Uruguayan compatriot Edinson Cavani.

Rodgers is convinced that the wantaway striker is among the best players in the world and says any bid for Suarez would have to reflect his talent, though Rodgers remains hopeful of keeping Suarez at Anfield regardless.

"When you consider that Cavani has gone for 55 million pounds you know ... Luis is up there in that bracket of top talent," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "Obviously it was an offer [from Arsenal] we didn't deem worthy of the talent, and even if they came back with that kind of amount, there's no guarantee he would be sold even for that because we are trying to build something here."

Rodgers feels that Liverpool is at point where it has the leverage in the situation considering that he does not feel like the club is in a position where it has to sell the controversial striker.

"We are totally in control of the situation, it is one where we don't have to sell," Rodgers said. "He has got three years left on his contract.

"We are prepared to get some players in and spend money without having to sell Luis Suarez."

Pepe Reina: Liverpool keeper set for loan move to Napoli

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is to join Napoli on a season-long loan deal.

Napoli coach Rafael Benitez moved swiftly for his fellow Spaniard and former number one during his spell at Anfield after failing in his bid to sign Julio Cesar from QPR.

Reina, 30, was due to report back for training on Sunday before flying out to join Liverpool's pre-season tour.

Liverpool signed Belgium international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from Sunderland in a £9m deal last month.

Youth team goalkeeper Danny Ward has flown to Australia in to provide back up to Mignolet and Brad Jones.

Reina, one of Liverpool's highest earners, was a mainstay of Benitez's side during his successful spell at Anfield and they have remained on good terms ever since.

The Reds former goalkeeping coach, Xavi Valero, has already joined Benitez at Napoli and Reina is known to rate him as a key part of his success.

The Italian side can also offer Champions League football after finishing second in Serie A under previous coach Walter Mazzarri.
Reina joined Liverpool from Villarreal in 2005 after starting his career with Barcelona.

not a surprise.

mignolet is signed to be the new number 1 and if rumours are accurate, pepe reina has already signed a deal with barca and will return to them next season after victor valdes leave the club on a free.

FT Liverpool 2-0 Indonesia (Coutinho,Sterling)

We didn't played well and the Indo team look decent. I think our National team will have a hard time playing against them.

Actually we did average in the 1st half. Some misplaced passes here and there and the pace is a bit slower. But upz the tempo in 2nd half when sterling and ibe came in. Overall its an ok game. keke

Aly Cissokho to join Liverpool on one year loan, with option to buy for around €4m curry sauce

Liverpool are closing in on another summer signing, with the loan signing of Valencia’s Aly Cissokho seemingly all but done.

The 25 year old left back has been heavily linked to Liverpool in the past and Brendan Rodgers has managed to stave off interest from Sunderland to land his man.

The loan will cost Liverpool €1 million with the option in June to bring him in permanently for approximately €4 million.

Highly competent left back Jose Enrique may find himself fighting for his place in the first XI at Anfield this season.
