LIVERPOOL FACE COMPETITION FOR DEMPSEY
Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he may need to sell before making any more signings at Liverpool and The Mirror claim Jay Spearing could be on his way to Bolton.
Apparently Owen Coyle is eyeing a loan move for the midfielder after losing Nigel Reo Coker and, sadly, Fabrice Muamba, this summer. However, The Mirror's report suggests the Trotters may agree to a permanent deal to beat Nottingham Forest to Spearing's signature.
The extra pennies Liverpool could receive for Spearing would surely be spent on Clint Dempsey but, after Fulham reported the Reds over their approach for the USA international, it might be difficult to resurrect a move.
Another spanner in the works is that Sunderland are now also interested in the striker and Fulham could be willing to enter talks to get the matter dealt with once and for all.
